Crap I Like that You Should Like Too (she:Holly)

Me giving appreciation to two of my favorite food items that can only be found in Australia. Dang you, Australia! Sell your flippin’ products HERE!

About Me:
I’m a 30 year old stay at home mom who probably gets distracted by the computer a bit too much. I enjoy food, exercise, treats, working off treats that I ate, makeup, trashy TV and um… oh yeah… food. But I’m trying to quit. I swear. I have two children and I like to keep busy so that I don’t have to hear the phrase ‘I’m bored’ more than I’d like to.
I like good products that don’t cost me an arm and a leg and I really like watching the Discovery Health Channel which leads me to my first favorite item:
The show ‘I didn’t know I was pregnant’ on the Discovery Health Channel.

Honestly, when I saw the previews for it, I was like ‘NO WAY’. Having been pregnant and carried two babies to term, I absolutely CANNOT relate to not knowing that you’re pregnant. But after watching this show, I believe it truly is possible. Are some of the people completely idiotic and not in tune with their body whatsoever? Probably. But there are definitely a couple stories where it is truly believable that it CAN and DOES happen to people out there. It’s absolutely fascinating. But you might want to kick your husband out of the room. My husband finds it quite possibly the most annoying show to have on as background noise as he’s trying to go to sleep. My favorite episode was the woman who had MS and gave birth to twins on the toilet. Twins she had no idea she was pregnant with because her uterus was affected by the MS. CRAZY!
And while we’re on the subject of captivating and rivetting TV, I feel like I would be doing a disservice to all of you if I didn’t tell you about the best show on television to watch right now.
The Bachelor/Bachelorette, of course!! The season finale is on Monday night. I’m losing sleep over it. Sure, it’s not the classiest show on TV, but I like it anyway. So there ya go.

I liked Jessica’s recent post on eyebrows. There are some seriously bad eyebrows out there. They’re everywhere. Especially at Lagoon. My husband always tells me that if I’m ever feeling bad about myself we should take a little trip to Lagoon. Just a few glances at the people there and you instantly feel better about yourself (and also feel the need to shower for some reason). But back to eyebrows…
I love many things from Clinique and this next product is just ONE of the things I love from there.
Clinique Brow Shaper. I get the color ‘shaping taupe’, but they have several different colors. I like it better than a pencil. I’m not skilled enough at drawing in lines. I’m too terrified I’ll look like this:

I have family that lives in Australia. In Australia, they have ‘brow bars’. All they do are brows. Some people are highly skilled at doing them. My cousin is. She has worked at a high end salon in Austalia (She even once gave Bon Jovi a butt massage. I KNOW!) When she comes to the states, she does my brows. She tints, tweezes, trims and shapes. It’s a skill. I do a bit of tinting myself and then I fill in the uneven spots with brow powder. I wasn’t blessed with beautiful brows like the rest of the members in my family. I have to really work to get them to look half-decent. But it does help to tint. Tinting brings out the color and makes for a better ‘even’ look. Tint first, then trim, then tweeze. You can find brow tint at many Salons and even Sally’s beauty supply.
If only we had brow bars here! Right?
Now, on to some of my favorite food items:
Have you tried ‘Mothers Taffy Cookies’?

If you are a taffy cookie virgin, you are in for a REAL TREAT. My husband taught me about them when we were dating. It helped me fall in love with him. They’re THAT good.

Next up?
Kettle Chips.
Oh. My. Goodness. If I never had to worry about my weight, I’d quit eating all other food and eat these exclusively. Honey Mustard is my favorite. If you’re a Costco member, feel extra blessed. You can buy a huge bag of the lightly salted ones for only 5 dollars. YUM!
So you’ll have a cookie for dessert, some Kettle chips with your sandwich and ON your sandwich, you want the BEST pickle EVER, right? If you’re a pickle snob like me, you probably already know about Clausen pickle sandwich stackers. You can find them in the refrigerated section.

Hello Lover…

So you’ve had your cookies, you’ve eaten your sandwich. You had way too many chips. You’re slightly bloated. But there’s a tiny bit of room for more. Something wholesome. Something that will help digest all the food you just ate. Something… sweet, but nutritious.
You want…
Yogurt. Everyone knows that women love yogurt. That’s why Walmart has dedicated the whole back wall of their store JUST for yogurt. Don’t stand there and try to decide which kind to get. I did the shopping for you. You want Yoplus Cherry yogurt. Yes. I said cherry. Don’t tell me you hate cherries. Because I hate cherries too. But I like this yogurt. Love it even.

(Sidenote: If you want to watch a funny skit involving yogurt and women, click here. )

(Sidenote #2: Am I the only one that sings the ‘Activiaaaaah’ ♪♫ song every time I pass those little green containers?)

So yeah. I couldn’t find a pic of the cherry kind. But you get the drift, right?

Perhaps this next item should have come first. Before you ate all that food and got all bloated, I mean. It’s a little late in the season to be buying a swimsuit, but if you’re still out there looking for the perfect one, look no more. Hapari makes excellent swimwear. It’s well-made, modest and cute. I bought a tankini this year and I love it. Yay for Hapari and good swimwear!

And last, but not least…
Don’t you love having that ‘rosy glow’? It’s hard to accomplish all the time. You know how you work out and break a teeny sweat, but you’re not so hot yet that your hair has deflated and you can’t breathe anymore? You can get that look without breaking a sweat at all!!
I love Origins ‘pinch your cheeks’ in raspberry. They also have two other colors. I usually use a little and then follow up with a dab of my own dry blush. It makes it last a bit longer.

Th- th-th-th th That’s all, folks!

  1. Yay! I love trying new things, especially when they come recommended! …and, so what are those things from Austrailia??…you might need to get your cousin to bring me some too!

Thanks Holly! You are a fabulous writer and friend…and you have great taste!

  2. So much goodness in one post! I will be watching the Finale with you tomorrow. :)

Happy Sunday! I am making way through all of the comments I received when I was featured on SITS. It really is a great SITSahood.
Thank you so much for visiting me and have a blessed day!

  3. I just find it hard to believe you do not know you are pregnant. I think the show is a scam! You know for ratings. LOL I have been pregnant three times and given birth three times and would have had to be in a coma not to know what was going on with my body!

That picture of the girl with the drawn on eyebrowns is down right scary! And funny! Thank goodness I was blessed with big ole thick bushy eyebrows so if I do happen to over tweeze, it’s not really a bad think. Plus, I think it’s the fastest growning hair on my body! Besides the chin hairs…..ugh!

Your cousing got to give Jon Bon Jovi a butt massage?! I hate her! Ok, not really. But how cool is that!?

  4. I LOVE taffy cookies, I forgot about them so Im gonna get me some for next Sunday!! Great post, Thanks Holly!

  5. Thanks for asking me to take part! It’s a whole lotta fun over here….

  6. I love Holly’s favorite things posts.

I love that she loves the Bachelorette even more. I’m annoyed that she will know the ending before me because of time zones. I can’t wait for the Holly re-cap.

  7. I am also a bachelor/bachelorette fan. I just can’t stop watching the train wreck. I LOVE kettle chips, they are super good and a tad bit healthier then regular chips. I have not tried the taffy cookies but they look good and I think I need them. I have never heard of Hapari swimwear. I have some modbe swimmingsuits that are similar. I will have to try the hapari stuff, I am digging the silicone inserts that you can add to the swimmingsuit. I can have self esteem again in the boobage dept…having kids does a number on those puppies! Speaking of makeup that lasts longer…try MAC’s face pain for your eye lids. Your eye shadow stays on all day long and you don’t get the creases (sp?) or lines in the middle of your eye lids. Great post!

  8. I love it that you said CRAP in the title. It’s such an underutilized term. Thanks for sharing all of your favorite CRAP. I will be trying the crap out!

  9. Seems like I remember my parents saying that our neighbor growing up went to the hospital with stomach pain and found out she was very pregnant (can’t remember if she had the baby then). She was very overweight. I (and you) know someone else that kept thinking the symptoms were other health problems till she was about 5-6 months along.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried Taffy cookies. Guess I’ll have to!

  10. It is my fondest dream to be fully pregnant (at least 6 months) and not know it. Honestly!
I have yet to try taffy cookies, so I’m looking for them next time at the store. Thanks for the tips!

  11. I will have to try the taffy cookies, never had them.

  12. Yeah Holly! Great ideas, as usual!
