First up, Elvis. Elvis and I go waaaaaaaay back. I’ve had a crush on him since I was teeny-tiny. I went and watched an Elvis Impersonator sing once, and I caught his handkerchief full of sweat…I was so excited! I’ve read his biography…a few times and FINALLY made it to Graceland last year. (Not as magical as I was expecting…but, still fun). No, I didn’t cry at his grave and leave flowers and notes. I’m not THAT nuts.

Rosie Thomas has the voice I covet. It really sucks that I can’t sing like her. Really. It was too hard to pick just one of her albums but I think I would sneak the others in the same CD case becuase they are all so good! Rosie is usually my music of choice whenever I put something on. Her music is really simple and sweet. I love that.

Okay, okay…roll your eyes. But, Neil Diamond’s voice turns me on. I might need that now and then being alone on an island. Gross, just kidding…but, he rocks.

Natalie Merchant makes me really happy too…in a depressing sort of way. She’s like a sad version of Rosie Thomas. But, sometimes I like the boo-hoo and her voice and style are amazing! The “Tigerlily” album is equally great…but, don’t waste your dough on “Motherland”.

Anyone that REALLY knows me would bring up “James Taylor” when describing me….because I LOVE him! His music is always what I put on when I’m feeling a little blue. I grew up listening to him and turning his music on is like getting a big hug. Sweet, huh. But, seriously. Even the ring tone on my phone is James Taylor! I would probably have to sneak a few other JT albums along inside the case too….it was hard to pick just one!

Okay Mariel, it’s creepy how much our tastes are the same! Between the Lines is one of my favorites. I’ve been listening to it since I was an infant. (also my mom’s favorite album) I’d also have to throw in U2′s Actung Baby, Pearl Jam’s 10, and Counting Crow’s August and Everything After. And for a guitly pleasure, Guns and Roses’ Use your Illusion 1&2. I’m also with you on the David Lanz thing. He’s my absolute favorite to play on the piano!
I feel like I need to make fun of you a little for choosing Neil Diamond…but having Pink Floyd in your top 10 totally made up for it!

Do you know, it would take me longer to make this decision than most others in my life. A perfect assortment based on a swing of moods is imperative! I’m with Jessica, can I not just bring my MP3 player???
What a great post! It got my mind thinkin’ of my favorites past and present. I would go along with a lot of yours. But I would need to add Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, and a little Josh Groban. Holy cow, and probably The Killers. Maybe I would need my IPOD!

I’d have to take Nickel Creek. I know, they’re pretty obscure, but I luv luv luv them.
I’m glad to see that Pink Floyd made your list. although it would be my number one, two, three, four, & probably five & maybe six. Love them!! For sure Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Momentary Lapse of Reason, The Division Bell, Works, The Wall. And for sure some Led Zeppelin albums, I have that whole collection of them too.
Sweet Baby James is all anyone needs.
I don’t know some of your choices, but I will be checking them out. I would have some Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Natalie Merchant, Michael Buble, and the Mercy Me Christmas Album. That is all I can think of off the top of my head.
