Daddy – Daughter Dates (she: Amber)

Hi Everyone! my name is Amber and i am excited to be doing a guest post today! A little about me, I am a stay at home mom of two, a 6 yr old daughter and a 19 month old son. Also i am a wife of a power lineman. Never a boring day here in this house :)

Well, I am not sure about other daughters out there, but I know mine loves her one-on-one with daddy.

It’s a great opportunity for bonding. Daughters really look up to their dads as role models, he is their “first love.”  The bond they share now can last a lifetime. She will always remember those dates and its something she can look forward too, after a long week of school :)

I thought I would give you some daddy/daughter date ideas to pass on to all your men out there…

Pick a day out of the month, and plan a date:

Go to a movie, share a bag of popcorn and soda.

Have ice cream and talk about the day.

Have dinner, share a dessert.

Bowling, is fun but also a good physical exercise as well.

One of my daughter’s favorite summer activities is to go fishing with her dad, she likes the worms :)

Take her to a monster truck show, dirt bike racing, etc. Never know, she may like it.

Start reading a novel together.
Go for a hike or a camp-out…build a fire, make Smores, tell stories.

Surprise her by checking her out of school early for a lunch date.

The list can go on and on, but its good to find time once or even twice a month to have a date with your children, one-on-one.

I am now married and I too used to have dates with my dad. Even though we are miles apart, we still talk daily on the phone. Even though we are grown, we still need our dads and we are still “daddy’s little girl.”
What are some fun ideas for daddy/daughter bonding??

  1. That was such a sweet post. We don’t have a little girl, but I don’t see why I can’t apply tis to a little date with my little guy. I guess you could count our weekly outings the library followed by lunch at Mickey D’s as a date. I ‘d love to have a little girl just so I can see my husband with her.

  2. Great post Amber! Every Saturday my husband takes my little girl on all of his errands! She loves it! Thanks!

  3. I am a 12 year old girl and love it when my dad spends time with me! (especially because i have one brother and 3 other sisters!) We usually just go to lunch and talk. It is so much fun!

  4. This is such a powerful article. My daughters need their dad desperately- they need his attention, affection and his love. After all, he is the first man in their life to teach them how a healthy relationship should look and feel like.
