Glitter Toes (she: Roberta)

It’s Roberta again! Remember me from my awesome running and silverware wind chime post? I am so lucky to be posting again! I am the happy stay at home mom of two cute kids and wife to a hottie. I have an 8 year old princess and a 5 year old handsome prince. Here is a pic of me and my precious girly. Today’s post is all about saving money and teaching you to pamper yourself. This post will make your feet super cute! When our feet are cute we feel cute right? My daughter begs me to glitter her toes all the time!
We have all heard of glitter toes right? They are pretty, and last a long time but they are expensive, and impossible to get off! I actually had two of my toenails fall off last summer because of them! And I was so sick of the same color I could have died. Well I am going to teach you how to do your very own glitter toes. What is nice about these is it is not the hard acrylic that can be so hard on our toenail bed. It’s good old fashioned clear nailpolish! So you can change them whenever you want. They last 2-3 weeks, look just as cute as the acrylic kind and are SUPER CHEAP!
What you’ll need:
Clear nail polish (if you want super-duper sturdy, go to a beauty supply and get an awesome topcoat. I use Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat) But any clear topcoat will work.
Glitter- yes, just plain old craft glitter! You can buy glitter at Sally Beauty Supply for $.89 a vile or go to Roberts with a %50 off coupon and buy a glitter kit. (They have like 50 different colors in the kits)
Over a paper plate or piece of card stock apply the clear coat to your big toenail sprinkle some glitter on, let sit while you put clear coat on each remaining toenail. Then sprinkle glitter on the remaining four toes. Pat the top of your foot to remove excess glitter. Repeat this process on your other foot.
Repeat the above process on the original foot. Put a clear coat on top of your glittered toes, then sprinkle glitter on top. Pat to get off excess glitter and finish off with a top coat. Dump remaining glitter on paper plate back into the original glitter container.
So, this will basically be the process:
clear coat
glitter
clear coat
glitter
clear coat
This takes about 5 minutes! Remember to let them dry completely! You can do them for a friend, daughter, Mother, sister or on yourself! Enjoy looking hot in those new, cute, inexpensive glitter toes!

  1. So cute and I don’t have to “get them done” by someone else! Thanks Roberta!

  2. oooh, super cute – I bought a silver glitter nail polish last summer but as cute as it is it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get off and you can only handle so much silver!!! My girlies are gonna love this!

  3. SOOO cute! Even I can do this!
I bought some glitter nail polish and that stuff will NOT come off. Suggestions?
And if I try your glitter toes and get sick of the color, how do I get it off?

  4. Great idea! Thanks for the tip. My daughter will love this!

  5. Thanks! Now I can do them myself & save lots of money!

  6. Love it! Thanks for the idea. Looks like I will be going to the craft store this week so I can have glitter toes for my vacation!!

  7. Love this! I have often wondered if there was a way to do this myself. Thanks for the step by step process!

  8. Just use nail polish remover to remove your glitter toes. Or you can just pick the glitter off your nail bed. It comes off in chunks. Then use nail polish remover to remove excess glitter. I got a pack of glitter at Dollar Tree too! 3 colors for $1! For an even better stick, after you put the glitter on just press the glitter down onto the nail, then pat the foot. This just insures more glitter adhereing to the top coat.

  9. Halloween- acetone might help remove that tough nail polish!

  10. LUV IT! I have been wanting to have this done, but not wanting to pay the price! THANK YOU SO MUCH. Another fab idea from or so she says!!! Love you ladies.

  11. My 3 girls will love this! Glitter is going on the grocery list this week. Thanks!

  12. Great idea, but please emphasize that it should be COSMETIC glitter, not craft glitter. They’re two different things. You suggested Sally’s beauty supply, which is good. Cosmetic is just *that* much safer to use on the body, and I know it’s a far reach from the toes to the eyes, but I like the idea of playing it safe.

One of my careers is as a professional face painter, after all. There’s a lot of safety info on my blog. :D

  13. This is a great idea! I’m getting glitter and a clear coat of nail polish at the store next week!

  14. Glitter Toes are great! They are the cutest new fashion.

  15. THANK YOU!!!!
I was thinking of doing a glitter toe party for my sister’s bridal shower (prob cost $100-$200). But this is great, because like you say, there are some downsides to the permanent glitter toes. and this way, it’s super inexpensive and we can all do it at the same time!! thanks sooo much!!!! (I feel like I just saved myself a hundred bucks). :)
