Today’s tip is about decorating your accessories in threes, fives, sevens and so on. Putting vignettes in odd numbers creates an eye-catching effect. Top designer, Jonathan Adler, believes in odd numbers “because they tend to have a slightly irregular feel” (HGTV.com). Grouping objects in odd numbers can create a decorator look, while adding some visual interest.
Here are just a few examples of what I’m talking about. The pillows on the sofa look fine the way they are. They look like any other normal even arrangement.
But, add in a third component, and it changes the feel, look, and texture dramatically. The arrangement is now more appealing.
Here’s another example. These accessories on top of a bookshelf add height and interest to a rather dull area. The grouping of four looks good, but not great.
Adding one more accessory produces a finished look.
To generate a bigger impact on a wall, group paintings or pictures in threes instead of using just one.

You can achieve a unique look in the bathroom by taking down the big long mirror, and putting three of the same or different mirrors together.

Hope these ideas inspire you to make your space your own!

Oh T, you ARE far too vain… yep – but those five little faces on a wall look so nice in their frames
It’s funny how odds are so appealing, but so true! Great post. Thanks again!
