The adoption spotlights of the month:
Meet Andre ~ (Age 11, Illinois)
Andre is an honest and expressive young man who is always able to tell you what is on his mind. Although Andre can act out at times, his overall behavior is good. He interacts well with his peers and is always willing to share with his fellow students. Andre loves to stay active and spends a lot of time skateboarding, playing basketball, and playing football. He also likes to paint, draw, listen to music, and attend church.
What Others Say about Andre…
Andre’s worker says he is a likeable child and a hard worker. He does well with his day-to-day tasks, given gentle reminders from the adults in his life.
What You Can Do for Andre…
You can provide a structured home for Andre, complete with well-defined rules and boundaries. You can spend lots of time with him, and assure him that he is loved. You can also work with Andre’s teachers and support staff to ensure he receives the educational and emotional support he needs. Andre would like to join an active family that has a dog and enjoys spending time outside.
“Andre should be the youngest child in his adoptive home.”

Meet Jessica ~ (Age 12, Colorado)
Friendly and fun-loving, Jessica likes to play with other children. Making crafts and playing games is fun for Jessica anytime, and being outdoors is terrific, especially when riding bikes and swimming. Jessica loves animals and is very kind to them. A fifth grader, Jessica benefits from an IEP (Individualized Education Plan), and excels with individual attention. She participates in counseling, which may need to continue after placement. Jessica has an important relationship with her sister with whom she needs to remain in contact after placement. Her caseworker prefers a two-parent family or single mother willing to participate in a transitional plan prior to placement; however, all family types will be considered. Jessica would do well in a forever family who would be able to create an environment that is calm and structured. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services. For Colorado children, both homestudied and non-homestudied Colorado families are encouraged to inquire; only homestudied families from other states should do so.
