Add Bling to Your Floral Arrangements (she: Natalie)

I love picking fresh flowers from my yard in the summer and fall.
The problem is, I am not a florist.
And I most definitely don’t have a green house.
Not much of a green thumb either, now that I think about it.
If my rose bushes bloom at least once a year, I seriously think I am the bomb.
And when they do, you better believe those flowers are coming indoors where I can show them off.

Since I don’t grow at home any of the “filler” plants that florists use (think baby’s breath or lambs ear) I have started a tradition of adding a little homemade bling instead.

Here’s what you need to brighten up any home grown arrangement:

Floral Stem Wires – They come in green and silver, I prefer green. The higher the gauge number the more flexible and thinner the wire is. In this case the thicker the better.

Round Nose Pliers – These can be found in the beading section of your local craft store.

Beads – Be sure to purchase large sizes that your wire will fit through.

To start, you first need to take your round nose pliers and bend the tip of your wire.

Add several beads in a pleasing pattern three to four inches long.

Then take your round nose pliers and carefully bend another loop at the end of your beads.
I would suggest making between 5-8 for a single arrangement, depending on how full it is.

That’s it! Just slide your beaded sticks into your arrangement and enjoy!
These can easily be used again and again when removed carefully from your arrangement.

I love how the blue beads really bring out the color of my vase!
You can make these in any color or length you want.

This is a great project to do with older kids, and it’s very inexpensive too. I can’t wait to put some in an arrangement the next time I take flowers from my yard to a friend or neighbor!

Or totally keep for myself.

Either way. :)
