For as little makeup as I wear, it’s probably a little odd that I LOVE to buy it. Or, really, it’s that I love to TRY it. You know me, the obsessive review-reader and product junkie. I’m always looking for the best. So, I was pleased as punch to get a box full of Mary Kay’s latest and greatest. Allow me to tell you about some of the goodies I tried out…
Mary Kay® sent me three different mascaras: their Ultimate Mascara™ and also two from the Lash Love™ line (regular and waterproof). I’m not into super thick and bold eyelashes, so my first pick was definitely one of the Lash Love mascaras. The wand has short and firm but flexible bristles that are close together to separate those lashes, giving you a long lash and a natural look. Just what I’d hoped for! The waterproof version did exactly as it claims, holding up for 10-plus hours, and perfect for boating and those random, unexplainable bouts of pregnancy tears.
I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to wearing eyeshadow, so I was excited to see that they had so many color options for me to try out. Of course, I started out with the neutral colors. Loved them. They go on so smoothly! Then I got brave and layered on some of the fun colors. I love playing with makeup!
My favorite items in the whole set were the Mary Kay NouriShine Plus™ Lip Gloss (it doesn’t dry out your lips!) and the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set. Remember Satin Hands? That timeless classic from Mary Kay makes your hands smooth as satin, really. I remember back in high school saving up my hard-earned money to keep a steady supply of Satin Hands in my drawer. Anyway, the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set is what you need for smooth skin!
Oooh, one last thing that I LOVE from Mary Kay (and have suggested in my ‘Gift Ideas for Women’ posts) is their Travel Roll-Up Bag. I can hang it up high to keep my makeup away from my little girls, and when traveling, all I have to do is roll it up and it’s ready to go. No need to sift through a bag to find what I need.
So great.

I just read you should apply concealer on top of foundation. Definitely been doing that wrong.
Sunscreen and eye cream! I don’t go a day without an SPF on my face (and hands if I remember). Also, eye cream. I started in my late 20′s and am pretty annoying in encouraging my younger friends to do the same.

The best beauty tip I know is to smile and stand up straight. They’re free and instantly make you look prettier and thinner.

I had a slew of cavities filled this last year and each one was due to my stubborn refusal to floss. I floss my teeth now – everyday. My hygienist is going to be thrilled.

I’m not a make up person but my aunt encourages me to wear even just lipstick and blush. I try to stick to it and it does make a difference in my appearance.

Over the years, the best advice that has helped me long term to to use the best moisturizer you can possibly afford – now that I’m older, I go for the best serum I can afford!
