Happy upcoming Fourth of July! It’s Kari back again, and I’m so excited to share this fun home decor project with you. Not only is this piece super easy and inexpensive, it’s also one you can get the kids involved in! Nothing makes a decor piece more special than knowing little hands helped to create it.
To create this paint swatch flag decor, here is what you’ll need:
1. Blank canvas (I used 11 x 14)
2. Sticky wall tack
3. Red, white and blue paint swatches (free at any home improvement store)
4. Scissors
For this size flag I used about 100 1 inch hearts. Sorting the colors is a great activity for little kids, while cutting out hearts is a perfect project for the older kiddos. Projects have a great way of muting the phone and television, and bringing the whole family together.
Once you have all your hearts cut out, have the kids place a small ball of tack on the backs of each heart, and place them in a flag pattern. The different shades and the lift from the tack make the flag really dimensional!
I love wall tack because it’s fun and safe for kids to use, as apposed to messy and dangerous glues. It’s also not permanent, so you could use the canvas for something else in the future.
And there you go! A fun, easy project for the whole family!
Have a wonderful Fourth of July!
