Usually what we’re after when we scour the internet for recipes is something quick, easy, and tasty that will fill tummies at our dinner tables. Let me tell you, this family friendly minestrone recipe fits the bill perfectly. I can’t really tell you that it’s health food. Let’s just make an exception this one time because, well…bacon. It’s not a lot, but it brings to much flavor to this dish.

Hot Chocolate Bar – So Fun for Christmas Parties!
Hi there! Sierra here from The Blue Robin Cottage! Brrrrrrrr! Winter just got real in Idaho! We’ve already had our first snow which can only mean one thing … hot chocolate time! Sometimes cozying up with a mug of hot chocolate is the perfect way to warm up.
We decided to kick off the winter weather season with a super fun hot chocolate bar! We used NEW International Delight Milk Chocolate Hot Chocolate. It was super rich and creamy and all I had to do was heat it up in the microwave! No hot chocolate powder clumps! Super easy and yummy!
Hot Chocolate Snow Globes (she: Sierra)
Hi all! Sierra here from The Blue Cottage! Since this season is the perfect time of the year to focus on gratitude, I’m showing you how to make a cute little gift idea you can share with a neighbor, friend, teacher or even your mailman/lady to let them know how much you appreciate them in your life. My kids helped me put these sweet little hot chocolate snow globes together, so it’s a great activity to involve the whole family and it only takes 3 easy steps!
Not in the Mood? Do It Anyway! (she: Lindsay)
One of the hurdles we can face when trying to do things, accomplish things (ANY “things”) is being in the mood. If all it takes to turn a lousy day into a great one is a little dinner party and a phone call, why would you ever choose to have a lousy day? Even better, why would you let someone else have a lousy one?
The people who need you need you to fix their mood, even when you don’t feel like it. And we need you to learn to fix your own mood so you can be the one who fixes the rest of us.
Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2015
Hey Everyone, it’s Kimberly from Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. Today marks the official beginning of Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, and since so many families visit during this magical time of year, I thought it would be fun to share all that’s going on. If you’ve been before, you should know that this year will be different than previous years because it’s also the Diamond Celebration. This is the ONLY year where the holidays and Diamond Celebration will happen at the same time, so it’s one not to miss. Here’s an overview of what’s different, what’s the same, and what’s new:
Snoopy Dog House Craft for Kids ~ Using Airheads Candy! (she: Liz)
Crafting with candy is a sure fire way to get kids wanting to get creative. When candy is involved, I know my kids will be up for anything. 🙂 My son is a builder. He tells me that all he wants to do is build. Knowing his love for building (and candy) we used some Airheads candy to make a Snoopy Dog house.
Green Chili Nacho Casserole (she: Carole)
Initial field reports when I placed this rockstar dish on the table were all positive since they could see the killer looking chips and cheese covering the top. After the first scoop out of the pan, I lost a couple kids when they saw the tomatoes 🙂 However, after everyone actually tasted their dinner, all was good again. Every single one of them asked for a second helping, which is the ultimate stamp of approval for this momma!
7 Fashion Tips from the Schoolyard
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Payless. All opinions are 100% mine. I think most girls must be born with a love of shoes. I know my 8 and 6-year-old girls can’t seem to get enough of them. We were talking the other day on the way to the shoe […]
My Brutally Honest Thankful List (he: Dan)
Thankful lists abound this time of year. Most of them annoy me. No offense. If we were to look at your typical thankful list and liken it to a Thanksgiving spread, then most Thanksgiving lists would be comprised of nothing but turkey. I want thankful lists with real thought and a dash of humor! Not just the turkey…
How To Get Kids Talking (she: Becky)
Instead of sharing a recipe with you today, I want to share some ideas for how to get kids talking about their day. We usually do this at the dinner table (because what doesn’t revolve around food?!), but it can really be done any time you have a quiet moment to talk (in the car, after homework, before bed, etc).
Making Beeswax Candles With Kids & Printable Christmas Tag!
For homeschool, we learned all about bees. Have you ever learned about bees?? Holy smokes, those things are AMAZING. In a future post, I’ll share with you some of my favorite products for teaching kids about bees. But in the meantime, I wanted to share this project with you… making BEESWAX CANDLES WITH KIDS.
These beeswax candles make great gifts (free printable gift tag included!), home decor, and fun memories of making them with the family.
