The Summer Olympic Games have begun! It’s so fun watching people who are so amazingly talented and who love what they do! Since the games started, we’ve been watching them together as a family in the evenings and really enjoying it! So far my son loves the swimming and is mesmerized by the gymnastics. I think it’s great for our kids to watch these athletes achieve their dreams. I also love that they get to hear some of the athletes’ stories and learn that their lives haven’t always been all that easy and that hard work and dedication can take you so far in life!

Hi there! It’s Sierra here from the Blue Robin Cottage! Most of you know by now that I love blogging, crafting and sewing but what you may not know about me is that when I’m not doing those things, I am all about Preschool! Fall is one of my favorite times of year. The weather cools down, school starts, candy corn and pumpkin pie become available for my consumption, and the leaves change! Though, with the weather getting colder I’ve found I’m looking for more and more ideas for keeping my little man entertained indoors. This week we’re going to give one of these adorable leaf crafts a try; I think he’ll have a lot of fun. Hopefully, your kids will enjoy them too!
Hello again! I can’t believe that Easter is coming up in just a couple weeks! It feels like it was just yesterday that we had a count down to the new year… Anyway, I was thinking the other day how some people are so stinkin’ FESTIVE when it comes to holidays, I mean, did you see what Mariel did for St. Patrick’s Day?? I myself am totally lacking in “festiveness” and I want to be better! Getting into the holidays breaks up the same old daily grind and gives you and your kids something to get excited about. So, with that said, I’m determined to make something crafty for Easter this year to display in my home. If you want to join me, and get the kids in on it too, here are 18 totally adorable Easter Crafts that I’ve gathered from all over the internet. Now go get festive!
For the last three or four birthdays at our house, I’ve thrown together some pretty lame cupcakes. I have no cake decorating skills, so cakes kind of intimidate me. Honestly, so do cupcakes. I’m always worried I’m either over or under filling the liners as they go in the oven. Then I’m never sure how […]
I grew up going with my family to a department store portrait studio every year throughout my childhood. My memories of this annual event include sitting in the waiting room while my five brothers fought, the photographer’s awed expression as he tried to figure out how to fit ALL nine of us in the shot, my baby sister crying while the photographer begged my other siblings to look at him, not the baby … I could go on! While I love looking back at our family portraits through the years, it’s not a tradition I’ve continued with my family. I prefer more relaxed family portraits taken anywhere but in a studio. It never occurred to me to have our next family portrait session in our home, but I love the idea! And after watching all the lessons including in Craftsy’s FREE Professional Family Portraits Class, I feel confident enough to try it!
I was so excited to get some of your comments on my last Craftsy review saying how much you’re enjoying these classes! I am loving them as well, and I’m so excited to finally be learning some things that I’ve wanted to know for a very long time. Today I get to introduce you to […]
Who knew there was so much to know about knives and how to use them?!? I seriously have learned more in the last 40 minutes or so from this free, online Complete Knife Skills class from Craftsy then I ever expected! My in-laws gave us a great set of knives early on in our marriage, but I had no […]
After being on the road for most of the summer, it’s been really nice to finally get settled back into making regular home cooked meals. Rather than order pizza (again), the kids and I recently decided to make our own at home. Some of you may be home-cooked pizza experts, but this was a first […]
Hello all. For our family trip this year, I wanted to do the ‘handprint in the sand’ keepsake craft with the kiddies on the beach. I packed a Ziploc bag filled with Plaster of Paris and could not wait to hit the beach. I was really afraid to get arrested at the airport with such […]
