Hmmmm…let’s do gift ideas for grandparents!
For the avid reader, I think it would be fun to give a personalized embosser that says ‘From the Library of ….their name.’ Or, you could also have it made with just their initials. I love this top-rated Personal Embosser with Stand from Williams Sonoma. To make it a fun combo gift, pair it with a great book and reading light!
For the world travelers, how about a scratch map? Looks like such a fun way to keep track of visited destinations. It could probably even be framed (without the glass), to make it more of a decorative piece for the wall. Pair that with the book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, for a perfect combo gift.
Who doesn’t love things that make their home smell good?? I have heard such great things about these Woodwick candles, that I just ordered one for myself! They are supposed to last long, fill a large area with the yummy smell, and the wood wick makes a slight crackling noise…kinda like a wood burning fire. Ahhh…
…you know what else I love for yummy smelling homes?? The sachets and oils from Greenleaf. If you’ve ever been to Gardner Village in Salt Lake, you’ll notice that several of the shops smell like heaven. My pregnant nose sniffed around until I found the source, and it’s Greenleaf. Mmmm…so yummy. They will take the oil and add a few drops to the heater vents so that every time the heaters come on, the room gets a blast of fragrance. I have a few of the sachets sitting around my house, they last a good 2 months, or so.
…and, of course Scentsy always has fantastic smells and warmers (so you don’t have to light a candle or waste wax.)
But, grandpa might think house fragrance stuff is lame-o, so it would be great to pair it with a new Christmas album and a homemade pie or plate of cookies. I asked the ladies on Facebook, and here are some of their favorite Christmas albums ever (and a couple of mine)…
I love the idea of this journal, it’s called Q and A a Day: 5 Year Journal. I actually just ordered one for myself and one for all the kids to use in homeschool (they have a kid version too.) But also, I think it would be fun to give to grandparents who don’t already keep a journal. The concept and the tasks are simple, just write your answer to the one question a day. At the end of the year, you start the book over and answer the same questions again…see how your answers change. It might be something like, ‘What are you reading right now?’ or ‘If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?’ It would make a great family keepsake!
My grandparents are both tech savvy and love their computers…so, I’m loving these mouse pads from Snapfish! If you do a collage mouse pad and are using pictures of your sibling’s family too, Snapfish allows you to easily use pictures directly from Facebook. No need to have to pester the fam for pictures.
