Happy week of Halloween OSSS readers! It’s Brooke from Blissful Roots. This is such an exciting week! So many fun preparations and activities going on for the big day Saturday. Today, I have a really fun, easy, last-minute Halloween treat/activity for you to do with your your little goblins.
My cute friend (bosom twin mother) shared this Witches’ Stew on Facebook a week ago. Her girls had made it with their aunt for a Halloween party. I feel like I’ve see just about every Halloween treat, activity, craft out there, but this one was new to me. Is it new to you? I always love finding something fun and new for any holiday.
This Witches’ Stew is so great because it’s an activity and yummy Halloween treat all in one (perfect for class parties!). You read the cute poem as your kids drop each ingredient into their witches’ pot. I just used a simple black and white paper treat cup, but it would be really fun to find little cauldrons (which I think I’ve see at Dollar Tree before) to mix your stew in!
So, here are a list of possible ingredients:
Chow Mein Noodles
Marshmallows
Pretzel Sticks
Triangle Crackers
Bugles
M&Ms
Raisins
Red Hots
Chocolate Chips
Raisinets
Candy Corn
I’m sure there are many versions out there, so play around with ingredients and make what works for you. You could omit any ingredients, or add to it. It would also be fun to have your kids come up with a spooky name and a food to go with it. The version my friend shared had Cheetos for bones, Red Hots for blood drops, and Raisinets for chocolate covered house flies.
I found one version of the Witches’ Stew for you from Making Learning Fun. You can click here to print a copy for yourself, and anyone else you’d like to share it with.
I have to say, I thought this would be a great little mix for my boys, but I didn’t think I’d like it all that much. Well, I was completely WRONG! This mix is delicious!! The perfect mix of salty, sweet, a bit of kick from the Red Hots, and chocolate! You can’t go wrong with any of it!! The perfect concoction!
I hope you all have a frightfully fun Halloween with lots of Trick-or-Treating, and plenty of spooks! I’ll see you next month!
