We all know the feeling, when someone who you weren’t really planning on gets you something, you feel you should return the gesture, but don’t have much time and don’t want to spend tons of money. Here are some nice and easy gifts you don’t have to break the bank for!
Kids
Games, games and more games! Kids love games and you won’t feel like you’re wasting your money on frivolous things that will break in two days.
Bananagrams is a great gift for kids 7 and older. Kind of like scrabble, but you don’t need the board. Great for travel, you can grab the bag and go! Kids and adults love it- and it’s educational! There’s also Scrabble Apple and Pairs in Pears. $12.95 Amazon.
Quiddler is a great game for ages 8 to adult. A fun game even dad will play! The object is to arrange your hand of cards into words. Make a fun family tradition is to play games all night on Christmas Eve with lots of junk food! Amazon $6.50.
Teenagers
All teenagers I know have an Ipod or mp3 player of some sort. They are constantly listening to music, so what better than an Itunes giftcard?
Books are a great idea. Mariel had a great post on books for teenagers. I personally think it’s a great idea to keep a couple of copies of your favorite book on hand. For me it would be Eli Wiesel’s Night or Alicia: My Story by Alicia Appleman Jurman. They are both great stories of people overcoming unspeakable horror and still finding love and hope in humankind. I would not only recommend these as a gift for teenagers, but adults as well!
Adults
So if you are the one giving the gifts (lets face it- I don’t think most of your husbands are in charge of this) you get something geared more towards the woman right? (Really the guys could care less right?)
I thought if you have enough time, and plan ahead, Mariel’s cute and easy Christmas Craft decorations would be a great idea!
Everyone looks great in scarves!
American Eagle for men. $19.50
And gloves or mittens! American Eagle. $19.50
A great vintage inspired dessert pedestal is a great idea! (Especially if you include the dessert!)
Burlap and Blue is a great place to get them! Super cute and very reasonable!
We would love to hear your creative ideas!!

Isn’t that the worst when you get an unexpected present and you were wishing you had something to give in return? Every year I buy a couple extra knick-knacks…things like you mentioned in the post. I use them just in case I forgot someone.
Great post!

I asked my sister in law what my brother would like and she said he would love to have a candy bar stash for the office, so I bought a bunch of those and I made a mousepad with sports stuff on it for him.
Bed, Bath, and Beyond has some cool tool type things for guys too. I bought a flashlight with attached screwdrivers there for my other brother in law for $10.
Hope that helps someone.

Bananagrams is a great idea! I’ll be grabbing one of those for my nieces and nephews to play over the break. I like to get a couple movie gift cards and keep them around. I can give them to anyone and I never feel like I get left out in the cold! I order them online and can always stick them in a stocking.. Regal Cinemas usually has a cute design

Alicia Appleman Jurman came to my school and shared her story when I was a young girl in California. It’s an absolutely amazing story.

I am a game nerd. Loves me some bananagrams and quiddler. My hubby is not the greatest speller so he is not a huge fan though. I gotta get my linguistic girlfriends to play with me.
