I was so excited to get some of your comments on my last Craftsy review saying how much you’re enjoying these classes! I am loving them as well, and I’m so excited to finally be learning some things that I’ve wanted to know for a very long time.
Today I get to introduce you to Craftsy’s “20 Essential Cooking Techniques” class. The title for this class couldn’t possibly be more appropriate! Chef Brendan McDermott (the same awesome chef who teaches the Complete Knife Skills class) covers so many of the cooking techniques that I’ve always wanted to learn, but felt intimated by or didn’t understand their necessity. Some examples … clarifying butter, making my own chicken stock, cooking the perfect hard boiled egg, etc, etc. Not only do I now know how to accomplish these cooking techniques, I have a solid understanding of how they can make food taste so much better.
In the introduction to the class, Chef McDermott comments on how mastering these techniques will really make you comfortable in the kitchen and will give you the confidence to put your recipes aside and start having fun – yes! As I’ve worked to improve my cooking skills over the years, I’ve experienced this principle. I love when I can walk in my kitchen and whip up something delicious without having to reference anything or think too much about it. After watching several of the segments in this class, I can see how that will be true more and more often now.
This class is so packed full of awesome tips (like how to tell if an egg is fresh … I had no idea how do that), that’s it’s worth every penny! However, to make it an even better deal, you can save 50 percent on the class price this week only (discount expires 10/10/14)! Just click here to register.
If you haven’t experienced how awesome a Craftsy class can be, then now is the time! I’ve been truly blown away by how easy the online classes are to navigate, make notes at important points in the class and review short clips over and over to reinforce techniques. This class will be one that I go back to and reference frequently until these cooking techniques are second nature!
