“Did you just call that thing your new lover??” asked Dan, after I introduced him to…THIS!
Oh yes, my newest, most favorite purchase: The lithium ion battery powered, cordless, bagless stick vacuum. (Hoover LINX Stick Vacuum) I know I’m a nerd, but I really get all giddy over vacuums, and I’m excited to tell you guys about it. I wish I could say that Hoover even knew who I was, and was paying me to say this, but they’re not. I just like it.
Here’s the number one reason why it’s awesome…because now the kids can clean up after themselves and actually do a good job. Cause let’s face it, little kids stink at sweeping floors. This baby is super light weight and has NO cord! You just charge up the battery, pop it in the battery slot, and it’s good to go. I think it’s designed for hardwood floors, but I also love it for vacuuming my rugs. Sometimes I get carried away and wander into the carpeted bedrooms, and it does a decent job. But, mostly it’s great for those quick clean ups in the kitchen and on the hardwood.
The only thing you should know is that the rechargeable battery life is pretty crappy. So, just to have it ready to go at all times, I would purchase a spare LINX battery, so you can alternate them. The other thing that is pretty neat is that the batteries also work in Hoover’s new handheld vacuum and pet vacuum, which I don’t really need…but, if you do, there ya go. I personally still love the Eureka Handheld for cars and stairs. It’s corded, so it keeps the power strong and steady. And, if you’re wondering, for my main house vac, I still love my SEBO, it’s a champ.
Since I was in a floor cleaning mood, I decided my mop was pretty sucky. I have a steam mop that I used to love, but fell out of love. I also have a Swiffer WetJet for the quick cleans. But, the WetJet finally bit the dust, so I did some research, and found something great, the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop. It is exactly what I’ve been wanting! A spray mop, that you can fill with your OWN liquids, and with washable pads. Yay. I’m going to buy a second canister so that I can store hardwood floor cleaner in one and tile cleaner in the other. Plus, it would be nice to have a few extra pads, to have one handy while the others are in the wash. Compared to the WetJet, this makes so much more sense, and will end up saving you plenty of money. No more disposable pads or expensive specialty cleaners. For sure, this is a new favorite too!
By the way, I recently asked the Facebook gals to tell me their favorite product for cleaning hardwood floors. Here’s some of their picks:
– Equal parts water and vinegar (optional: add drops of essential oils for scent, preferably orange oil.)
– Shark Steam Mop
– Bona Floor Cleaner
– Murphy’s Oil
– Sol-U-Mel
– H2O Mop
– Woodwise in concentrate

This handy vacuum cleaner is up for consideration. I will be looking for a very handy floor polisher to go along with this hardwood floor contractors.
