Happy New Year! It is fun to have a fresh start on many things including Gospel study. The focus for 2025 is the Doctrine and Covenants. I love that the so many of the words and teachings in Doctrine and Covenants are answers to prayers. It is a whole book of scripture that reminds us that God knows us and guides us. I am grateful for that knowledge!
I hope as your family (or Primary family) studies the Doctrine and Covenants this year that your testimony of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith can be strengthened.

January 5 Primary Talks: This Is Jesus’ Church
When Jesus was on the earth, he organized His Church. After he died, the church he created eventually changed and lost power.
About 200 years ago, Joseph Smith prayed to Heavenly Father and asked an important question. He asked what church he should join.
In answer to his prayer, Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared and told him not to join any church. Instead they helped him restore Jesus’ Church!
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church of Jesus! He leads us and directs us. He is happy you are a member of His church.

January 12 Primary Talk: The Lord Leads His Church
This year, we are learning about things the Lord has taught us in our time. The Doctrine and Covenants are scriptures for our day!
One neat thing we know because we have the Doctrine and Covenants is that the heavens are open. That means that God and Jesus can see us and they communicate with our prophet. They know what we need to hear and how to help us.
If we listen to the prophet speak, it is like we are listening to God. That is a very special blessing. I am thankful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I know God is watching over me.

January 19 Primary Talk: God Answers Prayers
One thing we learn from the Doctrine and Covenants is that God answers prayers!
The Church was restored to the earth because Joseph Smith prayed and asked God a question! His question was answered!
We also have access to Heavenly Father. We can pray to Him and get answers to our prayers. Answers can come through the Holy Ghost with feelings and thoughts. Answers can also come from friends and family.
If we have faith and believe that God is there, He will show us his love and He will guide us when we need help. I am thankful for prayer.

January 26 Primary Talk: God Has A Work For Me
Joseph Smith had a special calling. He was chosen to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth! That is a very important task. I am grateful for him.
The scriptures teach that as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, we also have a special work to do!
Here are the four things that God requires of us:
- Live the gospel of Jesus Christ
- Care for those in need
- Invite all to receive the gospel
- Unite families for eternity
If we work hard to do these four things, we can help the Savior keep His Church strong! We can be part of the continued restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and carry on the work that Joseph Smith started.
