So, I still haven’t decided what to do for New Year’s Eve, but on thing I know for sure…I want some naughty food. I’m amping-up my diet/exercise efforts for the New Year, so I better live-it-up, right? Isn’t that how it works?
This came from a previous issue of Southern Living mag. It is super easy and plenty delicious. All you need is a box of puff pastry, cinnamon/sugar, and melted butter. If you want to make a frosting dip, you will want more butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
Unfold your puff pastry sheets and cut them in half, with a pizza cutter. Then cut each half into 1 inch strips.
Bake at 450 for about 10 minutes. Mix together some cinnamon and sugar (maybe 1/2 cup sugar and a 2 to 3 tsp. of cinnamon). Melt some butter in a small bowl.
Brush each piece with butter and sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top. Turn over and do the other side, as well. It works best to just butter a few pieces at a time, then sprinkle. The butter absorbs pretty quickly.
If you want to make a dipping frosting, use your favorite recipe. I tried a couple different ones. I ended up liking 4 TBS softened butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, and milk to consistency. Just add everything to a bowl and mix with a hand-mixer. You can even heat it, if you want. If I was making both sheets of the puff pastry, I would double the frosting recipe.
