Hey everyone.  It’s Anne from Circus Berry here to share a quick DIY that is perfectly suited for your summer.

Can you believe it is July already?  We are in the thick of summer which means there are all new things to cart around to summer camp, the beach, the pool, and the park.  For my kids, a day at summer camp means they need a towel, bathing suit, sunscreen, hat, shoes, and sunglasses to go back and forth from school/camp to home, everyday.  I was thinking of an easy way to get these necessities back and forth everyday–something easy to carry, easy to wash if needed, and cost free.  With one visit to my stash of old tees, the solution was easy indeed.

Yes.  I keep a stash of T-shirts that I no longer wear in my basement.  Hey, you never know.  As my daughter put it bluntly…I don’t like wasting some things.

My little girl was thrilled to see that she had her own fancy-pants beach bag to bring back and forth to camp.  With how easy this comes together, you might just love it that much too!

For a T-Shirt Beach Bag, you’ll only need a knit tee of  your choice and a pair of scissors.  Oh, yes.  This DIY involves no sewing at all.  Even better, right?  Cut the bottom hem off of the tee.

Tshirt-Bag-steps-1&2

Create fringe at the bottom of the tee, cutting through both the front and back of the shirt, up about 4 inches.  Gently pull each fringe.

Tshirt-Bag-steps-3&4

Tie the front and back fringe together into a knot to close the bottom of the tee.  Cut the sleeves and the collar off at the seam.

If you wish, cut a shape out of freezer paper, ironing onto the front of your new bag.  Make sure to line the inside with paper as well so no bleeding occurs.  Paint, dry, remove.  Ta-da!

Look at that!  A new bag with (little-to-) no money spent!

Have a great July!  See you next month!  *Anne

Great idea for the first day of summer break! The kids can make their own bag for summer activities. Maybe use last year’s outgrown summer camp t-shirt!

    Love t!
