August 1st: Purpose of the Priesthood

There is a special power that we have on Earth. It is from God. The power is called the Priesthood. The purpose of the Priesthood is to help us get back to live with Heavenly Father again!

There are times in our lives when we make special promises to God called covenants. The first is baptism. The Priesthood makes the blessings of baptism possible!

The power of the Priesthood is available to everyone! Heavenly Father wants all his children to come back to be with Him in Heaven. If we do our best to keep the commandments, we can access Priesthood power when we need it.

I am grateful we have the Priesthood.

August 8th: I Can Be A Light To Others

Do you like being in the dark? Sometimes being in the dark is scary. It is hard to see, so you don’t feel safe. There are too many questions about what is out there. I do not like it at all.

When it is dark in a room, even a tiny night light can make a big difference. The glow from the night light drives away the darkness. Its light can make us feel safe again.

Some people are living their lives without the light of the Gospel. They do not know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It makes them feel scared. They have lot of questions because of the darkness.

We can be a light for them! If we let our testimony shine, it can lead them back to God. Even though we are small, our light can make a difference. I hope we can all let our light shine. We can help people feel the peace the Gospel can bring.

August 15: God Wants Us To Learn

What do you like to learn about? Do you like to study animals or read about cars? There are so many things in the world to study! What is your favorite class in school? Do you like math, science, art, or history?

Heavenly Father is happy when we are learning! He wants us to gain knowledge. The scriptures teach us to search, ponder, and pray. That means we should look for truth, think about it, and then ask God if it is true.

We can find truth at Church. We can also find it in our homes and at school. When we learn, it helps us to become more like God.

August 22: Word Of Wisdom

Sometimes Heavenly Father gives us commandments to protect us from harm. One special commandment is the Word of Wisdom. The Word of Wisdom is instructions on how to have a healthy body!

There are warnings about things to avoid. We should never drink alcohol or do drugs. They are harmful to our bodies and take away our agency.

The Word of Wisdom also tells us what we should do! We should eat fruits and vegetables. We should feed our bodies with good grains and healthy foods!

If we keep the Word of Wisdom, God has promised that we will be healthy and strong. We will have energy to work and serve. I hope we can all decide now to follow the Word of Wisdom!

August 29: Who Is Jesus?

I am going to tell you a name. I want you to think about who this person is. The name is Jesus.

We hear about Jesus a lot in church classes and see His name in the scriptures. We even speak his name when we pray. But, who is Jesus?

Jesus is the son of God. He was with God in the beginning and helped create the world. Jesus was born on Earth. His mother was Mary and his father was Heavenly Father. He saved us when He suffered for our sins and died for us all. Jesus is our brother. He has all of God’s power and will do all that He can to help us return to live with Him again someday.

Does learning about Jesus make you feel good inside? When you think about Him, do you feel happy and peaceful? I do!

I am so glad that I know Jesus.
