My name is Andrea. I am 25 years old and been married to my husband Tyson for two and a half years. He’s a hunting and fishing outfitter, and I’m a Master Esthetician. We live in Roy, Utah and we love it! I have two blogs- one for our personal life, and one for my business.
Tyndre.blogspot.com lets me document our travels, some of the adventures we’ve been up to, updates to our house, and things that have recently changed in our lives. Dancinmangos.blogspot.com is my business blog that I utilize as my business website. As a master esthetician, I often get questions about products, health and fitness, and eco-friendly cleaning so I have created this blog to answer questions and log any new products, services, or projects I’m working on as a professional. We have a dog, Addy, which was my husbands before we were married. She has quite the personality and often reminds me of the Caribou on Frozen.
How did you meet?
Tyson and I met while in high school. He was a Sophomore and I a Junior, but didn’t start dating until my senior year. After graduation, we both attended Utah State University for 3 years before graduating with our Bachelors. We dated for 6 years before finally getting married in July 2011.
What did you do on your first date?
Great question. I’m not sure! Considering we were in high school, it was hard to actually go on a date because we had little or no money. Our first date was more of a group hang out at my house. It consisted of a quick Wendy’s run, a lot of flirting, and ended watching a TV series. It was simple, but still so fun.
What is the best romantic get-away that you’ve been on with your spouse?
Our honeymoon, hands down. We were married in the Laie, Hawaii LDS temple, so for our honeymoon, we hopped on a plane, and flew to Kauai. We had 10 days to ourselves. No phone calls, texts, Facebook or emails. Each morning we would eat breakfast together, while deciding what to do for the day. We ate dinner at romantic areas around the island, he picked me flowers on his morning run, he took me shopping, allowing me to buy whatever I wanted, we went on hikes to see the true beauty of the island, and we enjoyed our time together. We didn’t have to console with anyone, or ask anyone’s opinion- it was just him and I without interruptions and that in itself was the most romantic thing.
What would the ultimate romantic get away be?
For me, it would be anywhere in the world as long as its just us. When we are able to turn off our phones, and disconnect from the world, we always have a great time together. BUT If I had to pick, I would say a beach vacation, where it was him and I, enjoying the beauty and nature together.
What are your songs or favorite albums that make you think of each other?
After dating for about 6 months, we decided to find a song that would be ours- that would remind us of each other. We settled on Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s ‘It’s your Love’. Every time we hear it, we make sure to turn it up- the conversation stops, and we listen and remember why we fell in love. Whenever I hear 80s classic rock it makes me think of Ty because that’s what he ALWAYS plays in his truck.
If you were to make a special dinner for him, what would you make?
My husband’s guilty pleasure is meat. He LOVES a good steak. So, I would probably make him prime rib. With vegetables. Then, for dessert, an amazing cheesecake! Let’s be honest. He’s the cook. I could probably cook the prime rib, but it would take me a few tries to get it just right. So if it were my night to cook for him, we would make our way to Cheesecake Factory or Ruby River and I would allow him to pick anything on the menu. 🙂
What is the coolest gift you ever bought him?
Right before our 1 year anniversary, my husband lost his fishing pole in a pond. He searched for it for months and couldn’t find it. On our anniversary, I surprised him with a brand new Sage fly fishing rod and reel. He had absolutely no idea. I’ve never seen him so excited.
If you could give your husband anything, what would it be?
Ty and I absolutely love to travel. There is one place he wants to go more than anything- New Zealand. If I had the funds to do it, I would take him on a trip to New Zealand. He appreciates and loves nature, and all he wants to do is explore New Zealand.
What are your favorite things that he has given to you?
Because my husbands name is Ty, for Christmas and Valentine’s day he gives me a Ty beanie baby. It sounds cheesy, but it’s something we do, and I love it. He recently surprised me with a new pair of skis, boots, poles, bindings and helmet. I’m just starting to ski, and I was so happy and excited when he told me! He often makes me try new things, and my excuse is often ‘I can’t. I don’t have the gear’. So my husband is gracious enough to purchase my gear. This year, he bought me Under Armour Camouflage so I could go hunting with him. Last year, 4 days before Christmas, he told me he had purchased a Caribbean cruise for us the following year. He didn’t consult me before, so I had absolutely no idea, but that’s how I like it 🙂
Finish this sentence: It makes me laugh when my husband…
Dances and talks in a weird accent. I can’t help but cry from laughing so hard. He tries so hard to dance well, but he is just terrible. I love him so much, that all I can do is laugh. He makes me laugh daily by cracking awkward jokes, or just being himself. Laughing is good for the soul.
What are some every-day ways that you show love to each other?
Every morning, before my husband goes to work, he wakes me up with a kiss goodbye. We also go to bed at the same time. We always kiss goodnight. We eat dinner together. I think its the simple things that make your relationship and marriage stronger.
What are some things you like to do together?
As I mentioned before, we absolutely love to travel. We love to explore new places, hike and see beauty around the world. We love to do things outdoors. He’s opened up my eyes to a lot of activities I didn’t enjoy while growing up. We have season passes to a local ski resort, we snowshoe with our dog, we wakeboard and kayak.
What’s your favorite smell on your husband?
He wears 99 cologne. I LOVE the smell on him. There is nothing like my husband, fresh out of the shower, dressed in a shirt and jeans, and smelling amazing.
Finish this sentence: I love my marriage because…
It’s ours. We don’t have a lot of money, and we don’t have children yet. We don’t have a gigantic house, or expensive cars to drive. But we have each other and the gospel. That’s the only thing that matters. I see others that don’t have a happy marriage and they are constantly trying to fake their happiness- they constantly shop at expensive stores, drive expensive cars, and buy their children whatever they want. But they aren’t happy in their marriage. My husband is my best friend, counselor, patriarch, chef, caregiver and love of my life. I love my marriage because its ours, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
