Today’s love-bird is your fellow “she,” Paula. Take it away, girl!
Hi! I’m Paula! My hubby and I have been married for 3 years. We have a 15 month old son and another baby due in July! I’m a really young wife and mom, but I wouldn’t’ have it any other way! I love to write/blog, to attempt the creative things I find on Pinterest, cross stitching, reading dystopian novels and watching The Biggest Loser! I love family, especially watching my little family grow!
How did you meet?
We met at church, he helped me with a project I had been working on for a few weeks so we saw each other all day – every day. We got married 5 weeks after we met… we were both 18!
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was actually AFTER we were married since we got married so fast. We didn’t even realize we had never been on a date until we had been married over a month! As soon as we realized, we went out to dinner at TGI Friday’s. Low on funds so that was all we could do, but I was still thrilled.
What’s the best romantic getaway you’ve been on?
The only romantic getaway we’ve ever been on was our honey-moon In Corpus Christi, TX (beach town). Nothing extravagant, but we had fun!
What would the ultimate romantic getaway be??
Hmmm…Oregon, or somewhere with mountains AND beaches. I love beaches and he loves hiking! We have opposite taste is so many things, but can usually find good ways to make sure we are both getting to do something we enjoy.
What are your songs?
We don’t have an official song that we claim as “ours” but if I had to choose one I would have to say “Dancing in the Minefields” by Andrew Peterson. LOVE it. And it fits our relationship PERFECTLY! I wrote about it on my blog, here.
My second choice would be Still The One, by Shania Twain. I also wrote about it, here.
If you were to make a special dinner for him, what would you make?
He is VERY easy to please so I would probably make his favorites… Baked chicken, plain brown rice and baked asparagus. When I make a nice “at home date” I usually try to include candles and a little home made gift or a card that I’ve written in to make it extra special!
What was the coolest gift you ever bought him?
Bought… a board game (Tigris and Euphrates) that he LOVED.
Coolest gift I ever gave him was for our 3 year anniversary, I compiled 3 different jars and filled them with different things representing the amount of time we’d been married, and then framed a piece of paper explaining it all. Cool gift and fabulous decoration! ***I can give more details on this, but I didn’t want to write too much!***
What is your favorite gift that he bought for you?
Hmmm. That’s hard, there are a lot of great gifts he has gotten me, but I would have to say, my favorite was the most recent one. He bought me a parenting book, Shepherding a Child’s Heart, and it meant SO much to me because he knew I had been worried about being a “good enough” mom to our 2 kids etc. and he wanted to show me 1. That he thought I’m and awesome mom and 2. That he was listening to my fears and trying to help in practical ways. So sweet! 🙂
Finish this sentence, “It makes me laugh when my husband…
Sings me sappy love songs. He likes to make up his own words to country songs, they end up being hilarious and romantic in their own way.
What are some every day ways that you show love for each other?
We always end texts/ phone conversations / emails with and “I love you” or “muah” or other sweet note. Even when we are annoyed with each other! It reminds us both that, even when we are not agreeing or upset with each other, our love is bigger than that and we WILL make it through! And during normal, happy days, it’s still a sweet reminder of love.
What are some things you like to do together?
We like to go on walks on nice trails near our apartment, play board games, play with our son, talk and watch TV when we’re too tired to do anything else!
If you could give your husband anything, what would it be?
A kayak. He would love it. They are just SO expensive and we’re saving up for baby #2’s arrival!
What cologne do you love your husband to wear?
He doesn’t wear cologne. Is that weird?
Finish this sentence, “My husband is especially attractive when…
He’s playing with our son. Seriously, it melts my heart every time to watch them having fun and enjoying each other! He’s such an incredible daddy!
I love my marriage because…
It’s MY marriage 😀 It has it’s ups and downs but the security of knowing we are in it for life with each other is so comforting! The love and commitment we share is such a blessing. We have been through a lot together in a very short time period, but every hard time has brought us closer together, I really do not fear for our future together, I have every confidence in Him and in God, that we will make it through whatever life throws our way!
