Hello Ladies! It’s me, Stephanie from My Frugal Lifestyle.

My blog is designed to help anyone and everyone who wants to be a little more frugal, but without the challenge of living with less. We all would like to stretch our hard earned dollars. Am I right? One of my favorite things to do as a frugal gal is to recycle or reuse something. Being able to use something more than once is a great way to save money. I’m going to tell you how I like to recycle {or reuse} my empty cereal boxes.

Make a Magazine Organizer from a Cereal Box

Do you have endless stacks of magazines? Are you like me and just can’t seem to throw them away? I’m a pack rat when it comes to my magazines. Here’s my solution to my endless piles of magazines. I take my empty cereal boxes {I suggest the Family Size boxes, they work the best} and cut them down to look like a magazine organizer. Plus, I’m an organizing freak, so this idea works well for me.

Here’s what you need:

3 or more 12″ x 12″ scrapbook paper
Glue Stick
Ribbon, stickers, embellishments {if you want to spice up your box}

• Cut the very top of your cereal box off. Then starting from the top, cut the front and back of the box diagonally down toward side of the box. Now you have the shape of a magazine organizer. It’s time to start gluing on the paper.
• I used about three 12″ x 12″ scrapbook papers to complete one organizer, but it depends on how creative you want to get with the color scheme. You may need more than three sheets of paper. Using my glue stick, I glued one of my 12″ x 12″ papers to one side of the box and then I cut around the outline of the box. It makes it much easier to glue and then cut. No measurements, markings, or rulers 🙂 Do this with the rest of your scrapbook papers and glue them to the sides of your cereal box and then cut the excess off. You can get pretty creative here with how you want your box to look.
• You can also use ribbon, stickers, embellishments, buttons {etc.} for extra dazzle. You can color scheme them to a room or use them to decorate a bathroom. Your options are endless.

A magazine organizer can also help you with:
• Your kids’ books {Some of those Scholastic books and such are small and thin. They can easily get lost in a pile of “bigger” books}
• Small recipe books/magazines that start to spread out in your pantry or kitchen
• Printer paper for your computer can be nicely organized on top of your desk
• Your kids’ construction paper and coloring books
• Your kids’ school projects or coloring projects. You just don’t have the heart to throw them away, but your fridge can’t take anymore art!
• For your mail, whether it’s going in or out. You can even make two different organizers to help organize your clutter.
Thanks for hanging out with me today and letting me share one of my favorite recycling ideas. What’s your favorite recycling idea?
