Hey Everyone! It’s Adelle from Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. I hope you’ve been having a great New Year! Over the holidays we put together a Not-Quite-Midnight Ball for my little princesses and their friends so that they could celebrate New Years Eve without staying up all hours of the night. You can read all about it here. It was a perfect princess party and one of the highlights was the Wish-Come-True Surprise Cupcakes. They were so easy and so much fun to make, plus the girls all loved them. If you have a princess party coming up, or just want to surprise your princess, try out this princess cupcake tutorial.
Start with your favorite regular cupcake. You can use any flavor you’d like. I prefer a vanilla cake because I think the colors really pop with the light color. Next, you’ll cut an angled circle off the top of the cake using a sharp knife. Cut so that the center is deeper than the edges.
Next you’ll round out a cylinder-shaped hole in the center of the cupcake. Once your cupcakes have completely cooled, fill the hole with your favorite kind of candy (preferably nothing too hard or chewy). We used Mini M&Ms because they were a perfect size, fun colors and let’s face it, delicious.
Next, you’ll replace the cake top to hide the treats and carefully frost the cupcake. Piping the frosting on glues the top back in place and just looks nice. When you’re done frosting, decorate with sprinkles, confetti stars, pearls, or any other tasty decorations fit for a princess.
It is very simple and easy to do! Add some magic wand candles and the cupcakes become part of your decor – even better!
When your princess bites into her cupcake, she’ll have an extra yummy surprise!
I hope you and your princesses have as much fun with the wish-come-true cupcakes as we did!
And if you’d really like to make your princess’s wish come true, take her to experience all of the new Frozen Fun at the Disneyland Resort this spring. Or, visit this summer through the end of the year and celebrate Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary! Either way, 2015 is definitely the year to visit Disneyland and our Disney Experts at Get Away Today would love to help you get there.

This is so much fun! I want to do this for my kids’ birthdays this summer (or maybe even just in the next couple of weeks!).
