I was lucky enough to have the chance to try out a Silhouette Cameo .. and let me just say ‘WOW!’ My mind was blown by all the capabilities of this little machine. It plugs into your PC or Mac® just like a home printer, but instead of printing it uses a small blade to cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric and more up to 12″ wide and 10 feet long. And to top it off, it can even register and cut printed materials. The possibilities are literally limitless.
My mind was a little blown, and I wasn’t exactly sure where to start. So, I went to Pinterest and started exploring. Silhouette has a Pinterest page, but that’s only the beginning. There are so many cute projects out there that I’m excited to try. Here are a few of my first projects created on my Silhouette Cameo (Keep in mind I’m a newbie, so I kept it pretty simple):
I’m sure the complexity and cuteness of my crafty projects will increase as I figure out all the cool things my Silhouette Cameo can do. There are definitely a few Silhouette tools that I’d like to get my hands on to make things easier, but overall it’s pretty simple to figure out and use.
I love that my Silhouette came with 50 images already loaded, and that any other design (and there are many) can be purchased for only $.99 – it keeps things simple. I’ve used other cutting machines at friends’ homes, and they are limited to designs on the cartridges they already have. With the Silhouette, there’s no cartridge to plug in. And, if you need a new design for a project, you just go to the Silhouette online store and find what you need, purchase it and download it right then. So easy!
