Hello, hello OSSS readers! It’s Brooke from Blissful Roots. Can you feel a hint of summer in the air these days? We sure can! And I love getting ready for it! I always want to make summer vacation a fun, memorable time for my boys, and that usually means I have to start thinking about it NOW! Not to say I sit down and plan every minute of every day during their break, but I do like to have a few things set and organized just to make the three months run a bit more smoothly, and be as enjoyable as possible. Organizing our treats in this S’Mores caddy is one little thing I can do to make my life easier.
As a mom, do you feel like your #1 responsibility at times, is being the carrier/distributor of goods? Do I hear a resounding “YES!”? And now, with a six-month-old in tow, I feel it more than ever! It’s been awhile (five years) since I’ve had a little one. Somewhere in those five years, I’d forgotten how suddenly you have a few extra pounds (18.7 to be exact, yes… at 6 months) attached to your hip. I’ve always been a big fan of consolidating and containing items. Hence, I’m a BIG fan of caddies (see my DIY bug jar caddy here)! One container to carry, many items packaged nicely inside.
Do you have a fire pit in your backyard? If not, I highly recommend one! A simple DIY project that gets the family outside, enjoying nature, telling stories, bonding over the long summer nights spent outdoors together, and of course; S’MORES!
S’mores are pretty much a weekly, some weeks daily, occurrence in our backyard. For us, it’s just not summer without them. And last summer I found myself going from one cupboard to the next gathering up the graham crackers, then the marshmallows, and rummaging through the candy box to round up some chocolate EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we roasted s’mores. Well, I’m getting a handle on the situation early this year!
It’s actually quite embarrassing that it’s taken me several summers to get my act together enough to run to the dollar store (Dollar Tree), buy a simple white container, and make a cute label (not even necessary, but more fun!) to throw on the front. It took just about the same amount of time to put the caddy together as it did to fill it with all the fixin’s! Completely simple, and yet so rewarding! This little guy is going to sit on a shelf in the pantry, and will be ready to grab on those star-filled, s’more-calling summer nights ahead.
And, to make it even one step easier for you, I have the printable label to share with you (click here for it)! I printed mine on card stock, and attached it with adhesive. If you want it more permanent, you can print it out on actual label paper, or Mod Podge it on. You can also adjust the size when you print it to fit your container.
And that’s it… until next month. A very happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers out there! Where would any of us be without our sweet mothers? If you’re in need of a quick , simple, last-minute Mother’s Day gift, come and visit me for two Mother’s Day printables (here and here). And, graduation is just around the corner as well. I have a fun Dr. Seuss printable that makes the perfect gift for any graduate, and a graduation playlist perfect for the special day!
