How to Support Adoption
If you’re a long-time ‘Or so she says …’ reader, then you know we’re passionate about adoption! We love working with any organization that also supports adoption, and it would be hard to find a company that does more to help foster kids find their forever families than Wendy’s. We’re thrilled at how much they support adoption!
My 6 Tips for Finding the Right Adoption Agency (she: Brenda)
When we started to look at adoption as a way to build our family we sought out people we trusted. First, it was my friend who had just adopted her second child. She had been through the whole thing twice and I knew she could help Brad and I start this exciting journey the right way. She talked to us about the agency she went through. We felt comfortable with this agency and even more comfortable hearing her experiences so we began (this was in 1998). Not soon before we started the adoption process, an agency wide group was being formed to help support couples as they adopt.
How Foster Care Has Change My Life (she: Jenn)
I’m Jenn, the proud mother of 3 beautiful children- all adopted from foster care. We are not your traditional foster family. In fact, our situation is quite rare. We have ONLY had INFANT PLACEMENTS. We have adopted 75% of our placements. We share open relationships with our children’s biological parents. We are not the norm. However, just because we do not meet the general “statistic” does not mean we don’t have something to contribute to the world of adoption. We feel very strongly that every child deserves a home!!

My Adoption Journey (she: Brenda)
When Brad and I got married 16 years ago we never dreamed the adoption journey we would take to bring children to our family. We thought we would do what everyone does…..get pregnant and give birth. When our expectations weren’t what we wanted them to be we started to question life. I especially had a hard time with the diagnosis of infertility….it felt like a death sentence.
