After looking at all of these chore charts, I was recently “inspired” to make one of my own for my little guy. Yes, he is only 2 years old, but I really want him to grow up understanding the importance of helping out at home and cleaning up after yourself. (I can see my mother laughing as she reads this… I definitely didn’t always understand the importance of it growing up!) I knew there were little things around the house that he would be more than capable of helping with and I knew that a chore chart would get him excited.

I ended up going with a cookie sheet chore chart and tried to make it as two-year-old-friendly as possible. I made little magnetic cards that have pictures of the chores on them and I made sure to create a layout that would allow me to pick/change the chores each day. At the end of the day, if he has completed all of his chores (usually 4-6 of them) then he can pick a sticker for that day. If he has seven stickers at the end of the week he gets a small prize (a quarter for his piggy bank, an ice cream cone, a trip to the park, etc.)

Just so you don’t think I’m a slave driver giving my toddler six awful chores to do a day, here are some examples of his chores:

  • Put dirty clothes in hamper
  • Brush teeth
  • Take dinner dishes to sink
  • Put away toys
  • Empty the dishwasher silverware basket
  • Complete homeschool for the day
  • Dust
  • Help Dad outside
  • Help put folded laundry away
  • Help sort laundry

They are all really simple and most can be completed in a few minutes. The first four he has to do everyday and then I pick 1-2 others based on what needs to be done that day. So far, he has done really well and has been a great little helper!

If you are looking to get your kids more motivated to help out around the house, this is the post for you! These chore chart ideas are so CREATIVE and FUN they are bound to have your kids cleaning the toilet bowls till they sparkle and then begging for more! (okay, maybe not quite begging for more, but we can always dream right?)
