April 2015 Visiting Teaching Message Printable (she: Kiki)

First of all, let me explain visiting teaching. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we are in a congregation where we are asked to go and visit certain ladies each month to really get to know them, share a quick message and find out if they have any needs that need to be met. It’s one of the ways we build friendships and help our leaders know any needs that families have. (There would be too many for them to visit them all!) So why do I love printables + visiting teaching? I LOVE putting to paper thoughts and quotes that inspire and uplift me, my family and those around me and visiting teaching has been such a blessing in my life. I have met so many incredible women who have blessed my life through both visiting teaching and being taught as well! I love the thought of leaving a little thought for them to hang up and think about throughout the month.

I’ll Buy You This Awesome Movie!

So, here’s how it went at my house… I heard Meet the Mormons was in theaters and I was so curious about it. My husband heard it was out, and he was like, ‘Eh, we ARE Mormon, why do we need to see it?’ He had a point. Was there really anything in the movie that we wouldn’t know already, being members our whole life? Needless to say, we never saw it in the theater. Although, I hear it did AWESOME (the #1 film in over 100 locations across the country) and the church just donated $1.8 million dollars of the profits to The Red Cross.

Just this last month, the movie became available for streaming on Amazon. We needed an easy idea for a Family Night, so decided we would pile on the couch, and watch Meet the Mormons together. Me, my grumbling husband, and 6 kids.

Come What May, and Love It ~ Sunday Sunshine #8

In preparation for the upcoming General Conference, I’ve been sharing one favorite talk from a past conference each Sunday. Last week, I shared the awesome talk about The Tender Mercies of The Lord. This week, I wanted to share Come What May, and Love It, by Joseph B. Wirthlin.

So, I love this talk because there are always going to be ups and downs in our lives. But, just like Elder Wirthlin’s mom would say to him, ‘Come what may, and love it.’ In the talk, he gives several tips on how to feel happier in life… and they’re awesome!

I look forward to conference every year, seriously. It makes me happy and I was thinking I would like to share a few of my most favorite conference talks with you on Sundays, for the next few weeks, so you can get a glimpse into what listening to conference is like (enlightening, uplifting, and inspirational!)

So, for today’s Sunday Sunshine, I wanted to share a talk that I love, called The Tender Mercies of The Lord…

Sunday Sunshine ~ Week 4

Happy Sunday! Last week at church, I took GREAT notes… at least, I thought so. But, I lost them. Lost my whole dang note book. Grrr… So, rather than guessing at my favorite quotes, I’m going to share another great video about making the best of situations in life and a favorite scripture that was shared in it. Sometimes it’s fun to share these things anyway. I hope you enjoy your day!

Sunday Sunshine ~ Week 3

Sooo… the past two Sunday’s I was on a cruise with my husband (I’ll tell you about it soon!), so I won’t be able to give you my regular church report. BUT, I have been thinking about a little something this week that I wanted to share and found a really special video. So, we’ll call that our Sunday Sunshine for the week and next week, I’ll be back on track. I’m so happy to be back at church tomorrow!

Sunday Sunshine

Happy Sunday! I recently mentioned in my The Moment I Realized Family History is Awesome post that I’m part of a family history class at church. We spend a lot of time talking about the importance of keeping our own personal history. It got me thinking how a lot of what I write on this blog is part of my personal history that can be passed down. I love that!

With that in mind…

After my family history class, I transition to Relief Society. That’s the class at church for them women. It’s my favorite one. With all the chaos of life, the moment I sit down in Relief Society, I feel exactly that… relief.

Meet THIS Mormon and ‘Meet The Mormons’

Meet THIS Mormon and ‘Meet The Mormons’

So, it’s kind of a fun day for us Mormon-folk. We have an opportunity to introduce ourselves on the BIG SCREEN. Oh, ya. It’s a movie called… what else, BUT… Meet the Mormons. Here’s the scoop: “Meet the Mormons examines the very diverse lives of six devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Filmed on location and across the globe, Meet the Mormons takes viewers on a journey into the day-to-day realities of individuals living in the U.S., Costa Rica, Nepal and beyond. From their individual passions to their daily struggles, each story paints a picture as rich and unique as the next while challenging the stereotypes that surround the Mormon faith.”
