Hello everyone, it’s Tonii again and I am so glad to be back with another fun and simple Family Night! This month, I felt inspired to talk to my kids all about the importance of WORDS. The words that we use, and the way that we use them. It’s so important to spend time teaching kids their words matter.

To get started I whipped up this simple printable with the words I say to my kids every day before they head off to school…

Then we spent a while talking about how words can affect us for good and for bad. It was really interesting to hear from my kids things that have hurt their feelings, but also words that have lifted them up and made them feel good about themselves. Then we watched THIS amazing video on YouTube. I can’t help but cry when I see the looks on those darling girls’ faces as they read kind words about themselves. You can literally see them transform…THAT is the power of our words!

Finally, I got framed pictures of each of the kids that I had around the house and a dry erase marker. This is the youngest member of our brood…we are kind of crazy about him 🙂

Then one by one we went around the room and all said things we loved about our baby Cohen. As the kids called out things, I wrote them on his picture with a dry erase marker.

It was amazing to see the affect this had on my kids…we have kept the pictures up like this all week. Every morning their faces light up as they come downstairs and re-read ALL the things we love about them.

I hope you can use some of these ideas in your home with your children! Imagine what a difference we can all make in our homes and schools if we can influence our children for the good and remind them every day how much our WORDS MATTER!
