HI, I’m Kelly from kinstonsweett and I am so excited to be a guest “she” on “Or so she says…” I’ve been a huge fan of the site for years and love all of the great advice, products, and wisdom offered by amazing women. I am a mom to an almost four year old daughter and seven month old twin boys. I’ve just started blogging since I am at home now and need some interaction that is not spit up or diaper related.
So nothing says “I’m a mother” like running around in yoga pants with a ponytail and dark circles under my eyes 😉 That’s my life since having twins seven months ago. I’ve also discovered the true meaning of the word privacy, or sleep for that matter. But having three children instead of one has made this Mother’s Day all the more special to me. When I was young, I fondly remember making presents for my mom, paper flower bouquets, picture frames with my picture in them, or poorly cooked breakfasts in bed.
Gift Ideas for Women:
Here are a few things that I would love to receive as Mother’s Day gifts. Not because it takes things to make me appreciate being a mom, but because gifts (whether handmade or bought) are an outward expression of an inner appreciation. Or a little payback for the fact that none of my babies sleep longer than three hours at a time!
Now that we are finished having kids (I’m pretty sure), I would love to have a mother’s necklace. I love how this one has the tree of life in the center. What a wonderful feeling to have your little ones’ names close to your heart.
Perfect for the weekends at the beach, afternoons at the splash pad, or mornings running through the sprinkler. And just because this is how happy I look in 100 degree humid southern summer with a twenty pound baby strapped to my chest!
Amazing Supermom Day
I have this dream of showing up to the spa, putting on a fluffy white robe and checking out of real life for the day. Mimosas, pedicure, massage, facial…then end the day with a new hairstyle and makeup. Of course by this time my husband has had delivered a box with a new dress and shoes. The Amazing Supermom Day finishes at a dressy restaurant with chocolate dessert and dancing. Wait a minute, this sounds a lot like Pretty Woman; eh…worked for her.
There is an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica called Franklyn D. Resort. The kicker is they have nannies included in the price! That’s right, no need to leave the zombie babies at home, they can come too. We love going on vacation, but with a four year old and twins, we don’t know when our next family trip will be. This is the perfect solution! I don’t think I would even mind staying up all night if this is the view I could have.
Sleep
I have this dream of the kiddos waking up, and Daddy magically taking them out of the house so that I can sleep until lunch. It’s true that sleep deprivation makes an effective form of torture; and at my house, a few precious hours of sleep for mommy can make everyone so much happier.
Family
Gifts are nice, but since finances are tight, nothing says “we love you mom” like amazing memories made together. This Mother’s Day, I hope to spend an awesome day with my children, my husband, and our moms. Nothing is sweeter than the Blessing of family.
