15 Top-Rated School Lunch Products

This is the first year in many years that I’ve had a child at the public school. 5 are at home with me, being homeschooled, but my 8th and 10th grader are now attending the public school, and it’s going great. I love homeschooling, but it’s also been a perfect time for both of the oldest to transition. A lot of things are new to me, such as having to think about their bodies being fed, outside of the home. Most of the time they eat school lunch, but they’re already getting burned out and have been itching for something new, or something from home. So, I’ve been looking into making lunches for them, at least for some of the days, and I’ve found some awesome top-rated school lunch products that I’ve been contemplating.

Mini bagel pizzas are a really fun way to serve up a meal the family may otherwise be getting tired of. Try this version of pizza in the toaster oven, too, to keep that extra heat to a minimum in the kitchen this summer!

Hello! It’s Kathy from Beyond the Chicken Coop! Lunch at our house always seems to be frenzied. You would think during the summer or on weekends during the school year that lunch time would be relaxing. In reality, we are often rushing to get lunch on the table and get out the door to our next event. These mini bagel pizzas are a go-to favorite for my family.

Yummy Mummy Pretzel Dogs (she: Leesh and Lu)

In our family, we always like to have a festive Halloween dinner. It’s something our mom always did for us and we love to keep the tradition alive with our own kids. On the menu this year (and the past 2 years!) at my house are these yummy mummy pretzel dogs! They come together pretty quickly and the kids always go crazy for them because not only are they fun and spooky, they are equally delicious! Lu and I love to involve our kids in the kitchen, and rolling out the pretzel dough into long “snakes” before wrapping the mummies is the perfect job for little hands.

No Bake Cookie Smoothie (she: Becky)

School is starting up soon for my kids, so we are trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible! We’ve hiked a lot of trails as a family, but I’ve also taken my 4 kids out by myself, and sometimes we hike with friends. They love it every time! One of the ways we like to fuel up before a hike is with a smoothie. Since my kids love No-Bake Cookies so much, we came up with a no bake cookie smoothie!

Cooking with Kids: Pizza Mac ‘n’ Cheese (she: Nicky)

Given the opportunity to get messy, dip fingers in and lick the spoon, I think most kids love cooking. Cooking with kids is so important because it not only teaches them important skills, but being involved often gets them more excited to eat meals.

My kids – Gracey aged 8 and Lewis aged 5 – have been making kitchen creations since they were toddlers.

I told Gracey I needed her to help in creating a lovely dinner for ‘Or So She Says’ and she jumped off the sofa and immediately started rummaging through her growing collection of cook books. Click on through to see what she decided to make for you today:

Caramel Cashew Popcorn (she: Liz)

Hi there! My name is Liz and I blog over at Liz on Call. I’m excited to be part of the 2015 team here at Or So She Says! I just want to take a quick minute to introduce myself. I am a mom of 3 beautiful kiddos that are full of energy. My husband and I have been married 8 years and our family is our life.
Although we graduated from the same high school, the same year, we didn’t meet each other until 8 years later! Crazy right!?!? I was able to stay at home with our kids once our 2nd child was born and started blogging to share all the projects, recipes and crafts that I actually had time to work on while I was at home. It turned into more than a hobby and I have loved sharing my ideas with my readers. Where does the name Liz on Call come from? Well it just so happens that my last name is Call. But more than that, I think that as a mother, wife, friend, sister, church goer, woman… I am always on call to be whatever my family and friends need me to be. At Liz on Call I share recipes, simple crafts, kid crafts, gift ideas, party ideas and printables. We just moved into a new house and I can’t wait to start working on some new projects and sharing them there. Come stop and by and say Hi sometime!

For my first post here at Oh So She Says, I’m sharing a super delicious caramel cashew popcorn recipe! I absolutely love making flavored popcorn. And this recipe does not disappoint. When I was growing up my parents would take us to a local frozen custard shop and my dad would always order a caramel cashew mix. Once I tasted that, I was hooked! Since then, there has never been a need for me to try anything else. I always want to get caramels and cashews. The sweet caramel with that hint of salt from the cashews mixed with the creamy custard just can’t be beat. Since I love that combination with frozen custard I decided to give it a try with some popcorn. This caramel cashew popcorn is ooey and gooey and reminds me of going to the frozen custard shop with my family.
