Hello! I’m Val over at In His Image.
I’m excited and honored to be a guest here as this will be my very first guest post!
I enjoy all your stories and absolutely love your ideas!
I hope you gain something from mine!
I mostly love to cook, but lately I’ve been brushing up my crafting skills! I’ve also been completely overwhelmed with decorating my newest home. That can be a full time job in itself! Starting over can be somewhat of a love/hate relationship! Right now, it’s still love…
This is my family.
We’re a pretty simple bunch.
We live in Kentucky and enjoy life by simply taking it one day at a time!
Thanks for having me!!
Well, I finally cracked. We’ve been in our new home for about 3 months and I’ve done nothing to the kid’s bathroom except paint it white. I had decorators block or something. The kids have been wanting this Toy Story shower curtain since they first laid eyes on it at Target months ago. I have a tendency to sway their desires into something Mommy likes too, but this time I decided to surprise them with what they reeeeeally wanted. They’re only little once! So, when they were playing one day last weekend, I shut myself in there for a few minutes and then asked them to please hurry and come kill a bug for me. When they opened the door….SURPRISE! Their eyes lit up and they were thrilled! It doesn’t take much to brighten a kids day. They don’t care about fancy, they just want FUN!
So here it is….
Then Emily, my 5 yr old, and I decided we needed some art work…
I made these with Crayola Explosion Coloring Pages and a few 3-D shadow box frames.
Just simply color the pictures you want (the Crayola Explosion sheets do all the work!) and cut them out to fit into the frame.
Aren’t they cool?!!
You can totally do this with any character or theme for any child’s room! Ooooooo….the claaaaawwww…..
We colored and colored. Then I used blue construction paper for the background.
The kids love em’! And I’m kinda proud of them myself! You can’t replace the quality time spent together creating this kind of stuff! I should have taken a picture of Olivia, my toddler, that night! She had marker everywhere!
Here’s the other view.
I don’t go crazy with buying the expensive matching toothbrush holders or embroidered towels. I just found 3 sets of matching colors at the other super-giant, Walmart. And because I did the art work myself, I saved a chunk of change for the next home project! Besides, they’re gonna get over the whole Toy Story phase and ask me to change it anyway. I can just reuse the shadow boxes for the next theme. Another win, win!
This one is my favorite!
To infinity…AND BEYOND!

How cute would this be in a girls room (girls theme of course) with some matching ribbon (hot glued to the back) to hang them with?!
I think I’ll try those next!
(The 8×8 shadow frames were $8 at Walmart, btw.)
Thanks again 😉
