Alright, last day of Father’s Day gift ideas, I promise!  I had so many gals wanting to share their husband’s favorites, that I thought I would take a back seat and let them do all the gift-suggesting.  But, all of those great posts got my wheels turning, and I broke down…I have to do a gift idea post for Father’s Day.  So, I guess it’s Favorite Things Week, plus one day.

Here’s the man and I at the Mountain Man Rendezvous, over Memorial Day weekend.

Let’s get started …

Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas:

A couple weeks ago, after getting an iPhone for Mother’s Day (whoo!), I wanted to get some new headphones/ear buds.  It’s kinda like that book, If You Give a Mouse a Cooke.  If you give me a new iPhone, I have to get a sweet protective case.  Once I get the case, I realize I need some sweet ear buds.  The ear buds remind me that I haven’t got a new purse in a while and a new iPhone deserves a new purse.  My new purse makes me want a new tube of Chapstick and 5 packs of gum.  Okay, I’ll stop there…and I confess, I got two purses (don’t tell my husband.)  Look at that green…my most favorite color ever.

Anyway, back to ear buds.  I was researching online and these JVC Headphones caught my eye because of all the great reviews.  Reading on, there were several claims that these $25 dollar buds were comparable to the ultra-pricey Bose ones.  So, I got them and LOVE them.  Dan took notice of them and LOVED the way they sounded, so he tried to steal them from me.  Needless to say, I had to get him his own.  Pretty great price for such great quality headphones.

Dan loves listening to audio books while he drives to and from work.  His most recent favorites are Jeffrey Archer’s The Clifton Chronicles, and Bernard Cornwell’s Sharpe Series.

Something I love about Dan is that he will always bring a couple kids golfing with him.  They never golf, they just love to ride on the cart.  But, more than that, Dan pays them .50 cents for every golf ball they find on the course.  The kids go nuts over it.  The second the cart stops, they’re off and running…rummaging through the bushes, swishing through the creeks, and brushing past the weeds.  Last time, my little Shane made $13 bucks!  It’s not that Dan really needs any more balls…he has probably two 5 gallon buckets full.  But, he loves seeing his boys have fun and spending time with them.  I told him he needs to knock down the finders fee to a quarter, or we’ll go broke.  Anyway, a ball retriever is so necessary for reaching those lake balls.  And, this Callaway one is the top rated.

Have you seen Courageous??  We got together with some of our friends a few Sundays back, had dinner and watched this movie with our families.  I was super impressed.  It’s not like a blow-you-away-with-special-effects-and-superb-acting kinda movie, but more a super clean, feel-good show that makes you want to be a better person.  I loved it.  With all the crapola there is to watch in the world, it was NICE to see something wholesome and uplifting.  Plus, it’s based around the importance of fathers, thus a great Father’s Day gift idea.

Over the years, Dan has decided that maybe he’s ready to move past the logo t-shirts (all those funky motocross brands) and embrace solid tees and his 30’s.  On a whim, he bought a couple of  Mossimo t-shirts at Target.  He loved them so much, he had to go back and get one in almost every color!  He likes that they’re thin, soft, athletic fit, the sleeves hit in the right place, the length is right, and ya…he is SO particular about t-shirts.  It’s nice to finally know what he likes.

Now, this is something I know my OWN dad would like.  He loves working in the yard…picking, pruning, planting…and this Telescoping Pruner would come in so handy!  It gets awesome reviews.

I want this one for myself!  But, my dad would love it too.  This Fiskars Uproot Weeder is an Amazon best seller.  No more bending over to pull weeds!  Just step on the weeder to push it over the offending weed, the claws will clamp and grab the weed and root.  One little hand motion, and the weed will eject off the weeder into your garbage pile.  You never even have to touch the weed…and, I bet I could get the kids excited to pull weeds, if they got to use this! (Watch the video on Amazon to see how it works.)

After the Mountain Man Rendezvous, we decided it’s time to start camping more.  The kids have a blast out in nature and Utah is SO pretty right now.

Anyway, this Swiss Army Knife is the ultimate camping/outdoors tool.  (Knives, fishscaler, tweezers, saw, pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, chisel, pen, and several more!)  Any outdoors-man could use a handy-dandy tool, like this.

Lastly, if you have a daddy who loves classic literature, this Mark Twain gift set is really cool.  The shirt is based around Twain’s world tour that he took when he was 60, trying to raise money to prevent bankruptcy.  The included book, Following the Equator, is not a typical Mark Twain novel, it’s tales from his journey around the world.  In fact, if you’re a Jimmy Buffet fan, he has songs based on this very book on his Hot Water album (which would also be a cool gift to include with this package.)

I LOVE Mark Twain, so I was way excited when the Mark Twain House & Museum sent this t-shirt and book set to me.  (Some day I will go there.  Some day.)  I couldn’t bear to give it away for Father’s Day, so I kept it for myself!  And, lucky for you….they are giving away a set to one of my readers!
