August 4 Primary Talk: Scripture Power

I like to sing the Primary song called “Scripture Power!” Did you know that there is power in the scriptures?

Alma teaches us in the Book of Mormon about the blessings that come from having the scriptures in our lives. Some of the blessings are:

• We witness the power of God.

• We are taught how to repent.

• We read about other’s mistakes and learn from them.

• We come unto Jesus because we know Him better.

When we study the scriptures we have their power in our lives to become better disciples. We also have more joy and light in our days! I love the scriptures.

August 11 Primary Talk: When I Repent

The prophet Alma teaches us about the joy of repentance.

When we do something bad we feel yucky inside. It can feel like wearing a heavy backpack or holding a big rock. Holding on to those sad feelings is hard.

When we repent the heavy thoughts are replaced by happiness. The heavy burden is lifted.

Sometimes we can be afraid to repent. But, it is always better to say sorry and make things right! When we repent it makes Jesus happy because he wants us to be happy. Repentance is a blessing.

August 18 Primary Talk: I Can Be Firm In The Faith

One of my favorite heroes is Captain Moroni. Moroni was strong! He was a leader and he was not afraid to fight for what he believed in.

The scriptures say that Moroni was “Firm in the Faith.”

Moroni did not let anything change the way he felt about God and Jesus Christ. He loved them and wanted to be faithful to the Gospel.

I hope that we can be strong like Moroni. When we are faced with challenges in life, we can use his example to be firm in the faith.

August 25 Primary Talk: Armies of Helaman

I love the story of the Armies of Helaman! I want to share it with you.

There was a big battle happening in the land. The Lamanites were coming to destroy the city where the Armies of Helaman lived. The parents could not fight to defend the city. They had made a covenant with God that they would not ever go to war. The parents did not want to break their promise.

All of the young men said that they would protect the city! They were born after the covenant was made so they were free to fight.

The prophet Helaman came to be their captain. He was a good and faithful leader. Because the boys all believed in God and trusted Helaman, they were protected! They were able to defend their city and everyone survived.

When we keep our covenants and have faith in Jesus Christ we can be protected from the evils of the world too! God watches over his covenant people.
