Disney World’s Tongan Toast ~ Knock-off!

I haven’t been to Disney World since I was a little girl. I actually have a funny memory from being there too. I was probably in 7th grade and decided I needed to trim my own bangs. Big mistake. I cut a little off, crooked. Tried to fix it, crooked. Kept cutting and cutting, until they ended up being insanely mega-nerd short. Not to mention, they were probably an inch thick. That beautiful moment of my life fell right during our family vacation where I had to be seen by thousands of people and be the subject of dozens of my mom’s photos. I was super grumpy about it. Probably deserved a big kick in the butt… being grumpy at Disney World. Who does that?

Well, I can’t remember if I ever had the Tongan Toast, but I’m sure if I had, I might have been a little more pleasant, cause this stuff is awesome!

Chocolate Hazelnut Streusel Bread with Salted Caramel Drizzle (she: Allie)

Hola, Or So She Says readers! Allie here, from Baking a Moment. How are you all doing? Did you have a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend? Are you enjoying the glorious Spring weather? We sure are, here at the Baking a Moment household. All our bulbs are popping up, the trees are in full flower, and the grass is coming in green and lush. My two little ones are in little league and so Mr. Allie and I are getting lots of down time and fresh air, watching them at the fields in the evenings. 😀

As I was looking over the recipes I’ve created here for you guys, I couldn’t help but notice a glaring omission. I don’t know how this slipped through the cracks, but somehow, after being a contributor for 5 months now, I have neglected to share a single chocolate recipe! What kind of dessert blogger am I???

Matcha Shake … A Healthy but Delicious Dessert (she: Gina)

Hi there! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. Are you all enjoying the longer days & warmer weather? I am! I love it when the weather is just sunny & glorious & the days seem to go on forever. Sure makes me want to get out of the house & enjoy the local sights. We like to head out for family bike rides or visit one of the 17 surrounding lakes in our area. I definitely love taking in all the scenery & getting out to spend time together as a family. Because it seems we are always on the go this time of year, we are always looking for quick & easy ways to eat & go. Sometimes that means a shake or smoothie to fill us up, pack in all those nutrients & keep us going all day long. One of my absolute favorites is this Matcha Shake. It’s healthy & yet absolutely delicious. I feel like I’m drinking a dessert- but zero guilt.

Chocolate Candy Kebabs ~ Super Fun & Easy Dessert!

As of yesterday, I have a new nephew! I’m so excited for my sweet little sister to be a new mom… she’s going to love it! So, recently we had a baby shower for her and I was in charge of desserts. My mom made this killer knock-off of Zupas Tomato Basil Soup and Chicken Pesto Sandwiches. It was AMAZING.

Anyway, I wanted something that would be easy to grab and throw on a plate next to a sandwich. Enter, dessert kebabs.

Chocolate Coconut Pound Cake (she: Zainab)

Hi everyone! This is Zainab from Blahnik Baker. I am so happy to be sharing another fun recipe with you today. How’s your April been? I hope you are having a great start of spring as we welcome the warm weather finally. It’s been a little busy with the end of the school year for me but I am very excited for summer to come! Today, I am bringing you a new favorite spring-inspired, yet classic cake. Coconut is my all time favorite flavor but if we are being honest here, I am a fan of all things tropical; mango, coconut, pineapple, kiwi you name it. So whenever spring rolls around and the weather starts warming up, I start craving these flavors, especially coconut. If you look at my recipe index over at Blahnik Baker, you will see this slight obsession 🙂 But I can’t help it. I blame coconut for being a perfect match for so many things. Like this chocolate coconut pound cake that highlights the wonderful combination of creamy coconut with the decadence of chocolate.

Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs ~ Virtual Baby Shower!

I’m so happy for my sweet contributor, Cathy, to be adding a new little one to her family! I was just recently at my own sister’s baby shower, so I knew exactly what recipe I wanted to share with y’all… the one I brought! I wanted to bring something simple, east to grab, and fruity. These Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs were perfect. I made a whole bunch of them in no time, and they looked so fun. The only thing I wish is that I had time to make them the day of, rather than the day before. They were still good, but the cake wasn’t as soft anymore. 🙁 So, that’s my advice to you… if you can, make them and EAT THEM that day.

I actually made two kinds of dessert kebabs, but you’ll have to wait just a little bit before I share the other one with you.

Mojito Trifles (Non-Alcoholic) | Baking a Moment

Non-Alcoholic Mojito Trifles (she: Allie)

Hello again, friends! It’s Allie here, from Baking a Moment. Has it warmed up yet, in your neck of the woods? I’m happy to say, Spring has finally sprung here in the Philadelphia area. Yay! It’s about time 😛 Today is balmy and bright, and I just returned from a leisurely morning spent at the little league fields. Bliss!

How was your weekend? I hope you got in lots of relaxation, and good food, and maybe even a cocktail/mocktail or two. Today’s dessert recipe is super-simple, and incorporates all the sweet and citrusy flavor of a mojito. It’s perfect for a backyard barbecue. It’s basically just angel food cake, cubed up and drenched in a minty simple syrup. Just sprinkle with more fresh mint, add a few dollops of lime curd, and top it off with swirls of whipped cream. Lime zest and a sprig of mint make it pretty and amp up the mojito mojo.

White Chocolate Bunny Fudge (she: Gina)

Easter will be here in just 10 short days & I have the perfect quick treat for you & your Easter guests. When it comes to holiday entertaining- for me quick is key. With so much to do in preparation for gatherings on top of everyday life – I always gravitate to things that come together with minimal prep. This White Chocolate Bunny Fudge certainly fits that requirement & yet they look so great on the buffet table. With just 3 ingredients – you can’t beat it.

Pecan Blondies with Browned Butter Frosting

Wassup, my friends. Okay, these Pecan Blondies with Browned Butter Frosting are soooo good. It seems pretty rare that I’ll try a recipe and know that it’s more than a keeper, it’s a CRAVER! I keep walking past my pan of these, telling myself, ‘Don’t to it. Don’t…. do… it.’ And, then I do it. I snag one more little piece. Then I walk past again like 5 minutes later.

So, I found this recipe in this huge Pillsbury cookbook I’ve had kicking around for years. It was taking up so much space in my cookbook cupboard, that I decided to go through the whole thing and pull out just the recipes I wanted to try.

Blackberry Crumb Bars (she: Gina)

Happy Spring Everyone!! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. again. Do you love spring?? I am so excited for the warmth to come back. I really enjoy this time of year when the days are longer, the sun shines more & there’s more fresh fruit available. I just feel better when I have an abundance of fresh fruit & vegetables stocked in the house. I know that I always have a healthy snack available whenever I want it. Plus – I love baking with fruit, especially berries. They are like little gems with those gorgeous, vibrant colors – they just make me happy.
I was so happy to do my usual stock up run for produce & my house is overflowing with colorful foods. I was looking forward to using some in some test recipes. Since we are on the countdown to Easter I am already planning my celebration meal. This means that I am making many test recipes to figure out what exactly will end up on the final menu. I created these Blackberry Crumb Bars as a little snack that guests can grab while chatting or would also work well topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I think they may just make an appearance on Easter day. They have just the right ratio of crumb & berry – so yummy.

Mom’s Cookie Cutter Sugar Cookies

Just the other day, I was thinking that sugar cookies may just be one of my biggest weaknesses. I consider myself a pretty strong-willed person, who will accomplish goals, be responsible, and not give into temptation. But, put a plate of sugar cookies in front of me, and all my mental strength goes out the window.

This recipe comes from my hot mama who has made these ever since I was little. They’re easy to make, fun to decorate, and I love them.
