Black Raspberry Smoothie (she: Zainab)

Hello OSSS readers, this is Zainab from Blahnik Baker stopping in with another recipe today! I hope you all had a great summer. I can’t believe we are saying that already meaning summer is winding down. I’m sure most of you already have kids that are back in school and the new school year schedule is just starting to kick in. Or they are about to start next week after Labor Day weekend. Unbelievable how this particular summer flew by. I hope you got to do everything on your summer bucket list!!
I’m trying to get used to the new rhythm of school too as I start my last year of graduate school. It’s called fast-paced life and now more than ever I am in dire need of quick, nutritious and energy boosting breakfasts to keep up with my demanding days. I am sure most of you can relate to this. That’s why I always love reaching for smoothies. They are one of my favorite ways to get more fruits in my diet but with so many add-in possibilities, I can increase the nutritious value beyond just fresh fruits.
This black raspberry smoothie has a secret ingredient high in protein but low in fat. Can you guess what it is??

Easy Caramel Croissant Bread Pudding (she: Samantha)

Hi there, Or So She Says readers! It’s Samantha from Five Heart Home, and I’m excited to be back today sharing a doozy of a dessert!

Croissants, meet caramel. That’s right, folks…as if flaky, buttery croissants weren’t already decadent enough, today’s recipe drowns them in a custard of homemade caramel sauce and bakes the whole concoction into luscious bread pudding goodness.
As an added bonus, the caramel sauce is homemade yet takes less than five minutes to whip up! Sound too good to be true? It’s not…the recipe is actually deceptively easy to make. But nobody will ever guess that when they taste it.

Fresh Peach Homemade Ice Cream (she: Jana)

I LOVE living in Colorado!! Especially during harvest seasons. We have famous Olathe sweet corn, Rocky Ford Canteloupe, and my favorite….Palisade peaches! And it’s peach season right now in Colorado. I love a nice, big, juicy fresh peach better than just about anything.

Growing up when my parents would buy boxes of peaches to can, we would live on peaches and cream for breakfast until the peaches were all gone & canned. We’d cut up some peaches, pour a little milk or cream on top and sprinkle a little sugar. So divine! I always wished the peaches lasted longer!
If you’ve ever had peaches and cream for breakfast and loved it as much as I did, you’ll fall in love with this ice cream. It is “wish I had 5 gallons of it” good! And so easy…and a perfect summer time treat for the kids…and adults too…and did I mention delicious?

Happy August friends! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. I’m back today to share a simple & tasty treat that my kids are absolutely LOVING. The heat is on & so we are finding all sorts of new ways too cool down & give the poor air conditioner a little break. This Blackberry Banana Ice Cream is definitely something that is gone just as fast as I can make it. But with it being just 3 simple ingredients & 100% dairy free – you can enjoy it any time of day with zero guilt.

Easy Crepes… whip them up in no time! (she: Maria)

Hello Everyone! This is Maria from Shopgirl coming over to share another recipe with you today! Crepes are one of my absolute favorite things to eat, both sweet and savory ones, so I’m super excited to share this recipe with you today! It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to make the perfect crepe (and the first one or two of every batch I make are never perfect!), but it’s a cooking skill well worth learning because they are so good, and so quick to whip up! All you need are a couple of ingredients whisked together, and a couple minutes to make the crepes! You can serve them sweet for a big breakfast or dessert, with some berries, ice-cream and whipped creme or with Nutella and bananas (one of my favorites!), or savory with a whole variety of fillings…. some of my favorites being spinach or mushroom

Cherries and Cream Dessert Squares ~ So simple and delicious!

Cherries and Cream Dessert Squares ~ No Bake!

I’ve been on a real cherry-kick lately! Mmmm…. I love how bold, flavorful, and summery they are. You know what else I love? An easy dessert. And, THIS recipe for Cherries and Cream Dessert Squares is exactly that. I’ve been trying to condense my cookbook cupboard. It’s totally overflowing and the shelves are about to fall. It’s hard to get rid of any cookbooks without skimming through each one for potential great recipes. I had this honkin Pillsbury cookbook, taking up more than it’s fair share of space. And, luckily I found this little gem and several more in there, before I let it go. I changed the amounts on several things to suit me. Like, I love an extra thick graham cracker crust, so… more crust. My cherries weren’t spreading across the whole pan, so more cherries. My bag of marshmallows overflowed into the bowl, so extra marshmallows. Things like that, but all good things! Oh, and the cherry on top? These things require no baking. Suh-weet!

You are definitely going to want to make this, because it is like summer in a bite (especially topped with a big scoop of ice-cream, of course).

Coconut Lemon Cupcakes with Raspberry Frosting (she: Zainab)

Hello again!! Zainab here from Blahnik Baker. I am so happy to be back to share a recipe with you guys since it’s been a while! These coconut lemon cupcakes with raspberry frosting were the talk of our last BBQ and I couldn’t wait to bring them to you hoping you will give them a try!
Since it is officially summer now (yay!!!), how is your summer going? I hope you are enjoying it! I decided this summer to try to do new things and I’ve been exploring our city in new ways. No more malls and shopping trips to run away from the heat. Instead, we are doing more outdoor activities like visiting the zoo that don’t always require an entire day out in the sun. Or visiting a nearby waterfall park that will involve playing in the water to cool down. What are some of your summer plans? Any bucket list activities?
We are also attending a lot of barbeques and picnics with friends and family. For some reason, everyone seems to be throwing a picnic but it’s fun to attend these parties especially to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a while. Being the baker in the family, I am always bringing some sort of baked treat and these cupcakes were my last creation.

There are still a couple of weeks to go before the official first day of summer, but across many parts of the country, summer temps are already here to stay. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I feel like doing when it’s boiling outside is turning on the oven. The A/C is already working hard enough! That’s why this is the time of year that you’ll find my family eating refreshing salads, dinners from the grill, and — when that sweet tooth acts up — no-bake desserts!
