Orange Pound Cake Mini Loaves (she: Samantha)

Hi, everyone! It’s Samantha from Five Heart Home, and I’m excited to be back today with a recipe that just might help you battle those wintertime blues! In Texas, we haven’t had to endure near the degree of winter weather that other parts of the country have been battling, but it’s still been colder than usual around here, with multiple days of school delayed or cancelled because of ice. The great thing about oranges is that, even though they’re in season during the winter, their fresh taste and dazzling color color scream summer! Regardless of the month of the year, I think you will love these little loaves. A thick slab of this pound cake makes a delightful snack or dessert…and it’s not too shabby with a cup of coffee or a glass of milk as a special breakfast treat either!

The Ultimate Chocolate Cherry Cream Pie

It’s the time again! Welcome to the blog hop featuring 10 of our favorite creative bloggers. This month’s theme is RED. Because of my obsession with this Chocolate Cherry Fruit Dip, I thought it would be fun to alter the recipe to make it work for a pie… a Chocolate Cherry Cream Pie! So, I solicited my mom and we slaved away in the kitchen, making this recipe absolutely amazing. Paired with an Oreo Crust, okay… yum.

Chocolate Peanut Clusters ~ Easy Valentine’s Day Treat!

It makes sense that chocolate peanut clusters would be easy to make, but I think I never realized just HOW easy they are to make! I’m talking, it takes 3 minutes to prepare, 3 minutes to drop in clumps on wax paper, and 5 seconds to stick in the fridge. So, if you have 6 minutes and 5 seconds to spare, you could easily make peanut clusters.

Stabilized Whipped Cream ~ Where have you been all my life?!?

Last week, my son was flipping through my Lion House cookbook, looking for a dessert for Sunday dinner. Sunday dinner is kind of our big sit down, delicious meal. That’s right, my friends… I don’t cook every day. Some nights I make Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, some nights I make turkey sandwiches, tacos, or frozen chicken nuggets. Some nights, I don’t do anything and we just fend for ourselves. But Sunday, we feast. So all week, my kids and I are excited, planning what our big meal is going to be. Anyway, this past Sunday my son found a recipe for a Chocolate Cream Layered Cake that he wanted me to make. So, we had chicken enchiladas, apple salad, and chocolate cake for dessert.

While looking over the recipe, I quickly noticed the directions for Stabilized Whipped Cream. What the? I had never heard of such a thing. Have you??

Toasted Coconut & Almond Matzoh Candy (she: Anne)

Happy 2014 everyone…hopefully it is off to a great start! After the holidays are done and the new year is upon us, I usually find that I have accumulated a pantry full of baking ingredients, haphazardly thrown onto the shelves in my haste to get everything done in those last crazy weeks of December. Then in January comes the resolution to be organized. But all of those ingredients! What is a girl to do but keep on baking? Today I am sharing a concoction that came together because I was trying to use up some of those pantry items so that I can get down to organizing. Please tell me I am not the only crazy person that does that…?

Toasted coconut and almond, chocolate covered, salted caramel matzoh candy. That’s a mouthful.

Peppermint Creme Brulee ~ The Perfect Christmas Dessert!

So, on our recent Disney Cruise (did you read about it?? If you ever want to go on one, check it out!) I became obsessed with Creme Brulee. I thought I wasn’t a fan of it. But oh, I was. I was. I just didn’t know it yet. I literally ordered Creme Brulee for dessert every single night!

When I got the assignment to do something ‘peppermint,’ I was having a hard time. I had already shared a favorite Peppermint White Chocolate Trifle, so… what to make, what to make. I called my mom, who is a cooking extraordinaire, and she suggested Peppermint Creme Brulee. It turned out awesome, if I do say so myself.

Tin Roof Sundae Pie (she: Jana)

“We’re Thankful for Pie Night!” It’s okay to be thankful for pie, right? It makes everything in the world good, right? At least that’s what I tell myself!

We celebrate Pie Night on Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday night) because, honestly after a big nice Thanksgiving dinner who has any room left for pie? This way we can have all the pie we want & then will still be hungry for Thanksgiving dinner the next day. Win, win I tell ya! We have every family invited bring their favorite pie & then we go to town. If we’re not with family for Thanksgiving we have a nice Pie Night at our home with our friends. Such a great tradition!!

White Chocolate Candy Corn Buckeyes (she: Cathy)

Well….it’s just about that time! Time for Halloween!! Which, around here, means enough candy to last the rest of the year. I don’t know what it is, but for some reason, my kids seem to come home with a bigger haul than I ever remember as a kid! And even though their dad and I go to town on it for a good week or so, there is always enough left over that I am convinced we will never need to buy candy again. And, for a long time, we don’t! Because after the first few weeks of candy-mania, we all tend to lose interest….and whatever is left in the bag is sure to be left there for a long time! But I’m thinking this year might be different. I’m thinking this year I’m going to have some fun with all the candy that’s left come mid-November! Starting with these White Chocolate Candy Corn Buckeyes.
