Hello!  I’m Jana from Double the Deliciousness and I’m so excited to be here to share with you some great, easy, kid & teen friendly after school snacks. School is in full swing now & I don’t know about you, but the first thing I hear out of my kids mouths when we enter the house after school is “what can I have for a snack?”

after school snacks

My must-have for after school snacks is that they be quick and easy.  Something  that we can throw together before we get working on homework or start carpooling the kids to their different activities.  I try to get/make healthy snacks throughout the week, but always make a fun sweet treat for Friday’s after school snack to welcome in the weekend!:)

This recipe is one of our favorite after school snacks, and it pleases my teenagers down to my 7 year old.  Win!

Cheesy Ham Bagels

Ingredients

  • 6 Mini bagels plain or whole wheat
  • 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced ham
  • 1/2 cup mayo

Instructions

  1. Mix mayo, cheese and ham together.
  2. Spread a thick layer on bagel halves.
  3. Place under broiler for 2-3 minutes or until melted and just starting to brown.

Here’s a week’s run-down of after school snacks.  My kids would be perfectly happy with these 5 snacks every week, but feel free to change it up! These recipes are over on my personal blog, so click the link to get the recipe (there are pictures of each snack above).

Monday: Cheesy Ham Bagels (recipe embedded above)

Tuesday: Blueberry Streusel Muffins (this one takes a little more time, but is worth it!)

Wednesday: Homemade Granola (great plain, with milk or on yogurt…make a batch on Saturday and you’ll have plenty for the next few weeks!)

Thursday: Garden fresh salsa with chips (it’s getting late in the season to still have fresh tomatoes, so feel free to use store bought:))

Friday: S’mores mix (something sweet to end the week!)

Enjoy snacking and talking with your kids after school! It really is one of my favorite times of the day!:)
