Christmas Gifts for Grandparents ~
I love coffee table books, and National Geographic makes some of the best ones! If you have grandparents that like to travel, I think this one would be so fun to read through, National Geographic’s Journeys of a Lifetime. It could easily be paired with any travel supplies (a luggage scale, binoculars, a camera, travel bag, toiletry kit (I really love my Mary Kay’s roll-up travel bag),
My grandma has aches and pains constantly. I’m sure she’s not alone, old age can really do a number on someone. I’ve been telling her about this DogBones NeckBone Chiropractic Neck Pillow, that I’ve read great things about. Over 200 reviewers claim this dinky $10 dollar pillow has done wonders for their neck and back…probably worth the risk, at that price! I’ve got to get myself one of these puppies. (There’s lots of color options too.)
I love gifts that can turn into family heirlooms. Why not find grandma a special necklace? Something that continue to be passed on for years and years, and bring back memories. I love this Initial Necklace that I found on Etsy. ($65) Or, the Heart Locket is fun and a better price ($23)…
One year, my grandma told me I was the best gift-giver ever. Sweet! Who knew that giving her a fun wreath for her door, would make me the best gift-giver?!? Crazy. I really love this Berry Wreath from Pier 1, or this Feather and Berry Wreath.
My grandpa loves movies, books, frozen pizza, nuts, and ice cream. Not a very clever gift idea, but if he loves it?? I say, “give it.” It would be especially fun if you can find movies that he used to love when he was young. Bob Hope was always a favorite of my dads. I used to think his movies were hilarious too! Just for kicks, I turned on The Princess and the Pirate today, for my kids. They were cracking up, and I loved watching it again. One of the rare times that a movie is still as good as I remembered. 🙂 It totally made me want to buy the other Bob Hope movies that my dad used to turn on for us, like The Paleface. Anyway, throw together a fun basket with grandpa’s favorite movies and treats.
My grandparents love soup. Pretty much they love anything that warms them up. They said it would be an awesome gift to have “Soup for the Season,” meaning the doorbell rings, and there stands their beloved grandchild, bearing a hot pot of soup and bread. Maybe this could be done every 2 weeks, for the winter time, once a month, whatever fits your situation. Chicken and Dumplings, anyone??
Back on the subject of keeping warm, my grandpa loves warm socks, an my grandma loves scarves. I love the infinity scarves, (you know, the kind that are a complete circle) especially the crochet kind. Here’s one I love on Etsy, the Chunky Infinity Scarf, $55 from Candace’s Closet. I know a lot of people make these themselves with just soft, stylish fabric, sewn into a circle. It’s always an option. 🙂 Other warming items, besides socks and scarves. I really love my N.A.P. snuggie that I mentioned a couple days ago, and I love my perfectly shaped rice bag (covers neck and shoulders), from The Ferris Wheels.
Grandparents love pictures of the family. Really, who doesn’t? A fun way to give something, besides the standard photo book or calendar, is to do a digital frame. Upload pictures to the frame, and it will automatically rotate through them. My grandparents would love this! The Sony Digital Frame gets the best reviews…
Okay, for sure I am going to do this. I dread the day when my grandparents pass on, I’ll miss them so much! So, I love the idea of giving each of them this book, Memories for My Grandchild. It’s filled with questions and space for your grandparent to share about their lives. It would be a fabulous thing to have and to be able to share with my children…especially, written by their own hand. I love it. Besides, I would imagine my grandparents would enjoy it a lot more than Sudoku or the daily crossword. This book would be great paired with a reading light, warm jammies, and an updated framed picture of the grandkids.
