Hello everyone! It’s Adelle from Get Away Today. You may have heard about the Blue and Green Milk available at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. They’re two new cool, refreshing treats available in this new land, and today I’m sharing a copycat Blue Milk recipe inspired by the real thing.
Copycat Blue Milk Recipe
Now that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is open in Disneyland, you can try a whole slew of new food and drink options at Disneyland. The choices are truly out of this world! Have you been yet? Have you tried anything from a galaxy far, far away? If you can’t make it to Disneyland to cool off with a sweet treat, then you’ll want to try this copycat Blue Milk recipe at home.
Copycat Blue Milk Recipe: Insider Secret
Before we get started, I will let you know this copycat Blue Milk recipe does not actually contain any dairy milk. PHEW! I bet you’re breathing a huge sigh of relief. It might be a little hard to swallow a glass of blue-colored milk. Before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened, some people were a little worried about ordering a glass of colored milk on hot days in Disneyland. Thankfully, according to Disney themselves, “It is actually plant-based dairy-essentially rice milk–which makes it easier for everyone to enjoy. It’s soft-frozen, like a milkshake.” Brian Koziol, the director of Galaxy’s Edge beverage department claims that it is a lot like a smoothie.
Copycat Blue Milk Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 cups Vanilla Flavored Sweetened Rice Milk
- Glacier Ice Gatorade Powder
- 1 cup Blue Glacier Ice Frozen into Cubes or Mickey Shapes
- Blue Food Coloring
For this copycat Blue Milk recipe to work, you should make the Blue Gatorade Glacier Ice-flavored ice cubes at least 5 hours before you want to serve the Blue Milk. If you’re pressed for time, you can use regular ice you already have, but use 1/2 additional scoop of the Gatorade powder.
To make these extra cute, I used a Mickey Mouse mold from the Disney Store to make ice cubes. You can get really creative, even using Star Wars themed ice molds from Amazon.

Copycat Blue Milk Recipe: Getting Started
Pour the blue Glacier Ice Gatorade into the ice cube trays. Put them in the freezer to get solid. Remember, you want to freeze them for about 5 hours.
Pour 2 cups of sweetened vanilla rice milk in a blender.
After 5 hours, take your Mickey ice mold (or Star Wars ice mold) from the freezer and pop out the frozen blue Glacier Ice Gatorade Mickeys!
You need about 1.5 cups of ice to make the copycat Blue Milk recipe a smoothie consistency. Measure your cubes to see how many you need.
Pour one scoop of the Gatorade Glacier Ice powder into the blender. The Galaxy’s Edge version of blue milk claims to have a berry flavor. This Gatorade powder has a hint of berry flavor as well, so it is a pretty good match! (If you’ve chosen to forego the Gatorade ice cubes, then you’ll want to add 1/2 scoop to the measurement).
Copycat Blue Milk Recipe: Getting the Blue Hue
To make this copycat Blue Milk recipe really blue, add about 4 drops of blue food coloring to the blender. I didn’t think the blue milk was quite vibrant enough without the coloring! I didn’t want anyone to think it was just sour milk… so definitely add those drops of food coloring.
Copycat Blue Milk Recipe: Getting Smooth
Blend everything together until it is nice and smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
It is a little bit funny that Galaxy’s Edge Blue Milk is not actually made of milk. Honestly, the rice milk version is a pretty good idea, though. It’s more versatile, and more guests will be able to enjoy it without worrying about food allergies or sensitivities. Sipping on my own copycat blue milk made me realize that it would be quite refreshing on a hot day at the Disney parks.
