Hey there! It’s Creative Carmella here again to show you a quick and easy creative project!
Today I am going to share my tips and tricks for creating a beautiful, customized, watercolor printable.
My kiddos are already out on summer break so it’s only natural that I have been beach dreaming 😉 This watercolor print was very much inspired by that day dreaming!
First, I painted a blend of blues of greens onto watercolor paper. To get the colors to flow and blend together, simply paint a little water on the paper right were the paint will be… this way the blend of colors will flow right into the next. Any water color paints will do too! One of my kids left their set out on the table so that’s what I used.
Once you have a bit of your paper painted, use your home scanner to scan and save the painting as a .jpg file.
Next, open the image in a photo editing site. I use picmonkey.com because it is so easy to use and has a lot of options for free!
Above I have pointed out where the text options are located… Just click that area and it will open all the fonts that are available
Once the font options have loaded, click anywhere on the image to add text. You can play around with all the different fonts to find the ones you like best. In the picture below, I circled the area labeled “fade” this is my favorite feature for softening the look of the text and helping it to blend into the background.
Have fun playing around with different quotes and fonts and once you have it all finished save it to your computer
Now all you have to do is print it out on watercolor paper and that’s it! Pretty easy, right? I just love the soft feel of this print, perfect for a summer vibe 🙂
Thanks so much for taking a look! Don’t forget you can find me blogging away on my Creative Carmella Blog or get a behind the scenes look at all the shenanigans that go on while I am trying to live a creative life on Instagram!
See you all again soon!

I love picmonkey! This is such a great idea. I never thought of uploading art and then customizing it. Duh.
