This summer my kids and I will be world travelers! With the help of the internet, the local library, and the smattering of cultural restaurants in our area, we are going to learn about a new country each week. I am so excited to expose my kids to the colors, sights, sounds and tastes of other nations.

For the longest time, my husband and I have been wanting to take our 7 kiddos on a family vacation to Nauvoo, Illinois. It’s been over 10 years since we have been there and I thought it was the perfect time to go again. I had just finished reading The History of Joseph Smith by His Mother to the kids, it was spring (less crowds and not so hot!), and we were due for a family vacation. And, let me tell you… it WAS the perfect time to go and the most PERFECT family vacation. Honestly, maybe my favorite one that we’ve ever done. The April weather was amazing. We practically had the whole town to ourselves. It was an awesome bonding experience, we learned a ton, and had some definite spiritual moments. I’m already anxious to go again!
Today’s messy Family Night Lesson is all about Icky Sticky Lies. Combine a fun and sweet object lesson with a few hard truths about the ugly effects of lies. Teach your family about dishonesty in a way that will STICK with them for a long time!
Even though we won’t be stuck with schedules, I think my house gets a little crazy in the summer when all the kids are home all day. And I too hear “I’m Bored” way more than I want to. I try and collect some activities the weeks leading up to summer vacation to keep the kids busy when they are bored. Anything art related my kids are always up for. I have a couple of budding artists at my house. Crayons, markers, watercolors and a bunch of plain white paper will keep them busy.

Why didn’t other moms feel warm and fuzzy about their kids like I felt about mine? I smiled to myself as I thought, “Oh, that is so sad. Friends! Have you ever wanted to try your hand at yoga?? I know I have! In fact, I have a little brother on an LDS mission, who LOVES yoga. Before he left, he made me promise that I would learn yoga and be able to show him a “sweet yoga move” by the time he gets home. Eeeek!
That promise, coupled with the fact that two of my brothers are in film production (they’re amazing) and my blog assistant, Liv, is also a yoga instructor, gave me an AWESOME IDEA! We put our heads together and decided to create a Yoga for Busy Moms online class, right in my own home.
I love getting together with my family to spend quality time together, laughing, enjoying each other’s company and indulging in some delicious food. Luckily I’ve never had to host a big Easter dinner or brunch, but I do have little kids that get anxious and impatient when it comes to waiting for everyone to arrive. I love having things available to entertain them as they wait. This free printable Easter word search would be a great addition to any Easter family get together.
