Happy New Year! It’s Kimberly from Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. The beginning of a new year always fills me with anticipation and excitement. At Get Away Today it’s an especially exciting year because we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Woohoo! One of the most exciting things to happen for families visiting the Disneyland Resort early this year is the new addition of Frozen experiences and activities. For parents with kids who are fans of Anna, Elsa and Olaf, it couldn’t come soon enough! There is so much going on and it officially kicked off last week.
Some families who visited over the holidays got to get a little sneak peak, but now everything is up and running. Because there is so much going on and you don’t want the Frozen fans at your house to miss a thing, I’ve put together a list of everything Frozen and where you can find it throughout the Resort – keep in mind most of the new stuff is now at Disney California Adventure Park. Also, something to be aware of is these events don’t have an ending date yet, but they’re being promoted as a very limited time engagement. Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Celebration will kick off sometime early this summer, so the Frozen Fun may melt away before then. Anyway, without further adieu… Check out all tips and tricks for enjoying Frozen at Disneyland:
Disney California Adventure Park:
Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome is the new meet-n-greet area for the royal sisters and it is located in the Animation Building. Fastpasses are offered and run out quickly, so get yours early. (Please note that you can no longer meet Anna and Elsa in Fantasyland at Disneyland.)
Do you want to draw a snowman? You can learn how to draw Olaf from a real Disney animator in the Animation Building – and then keep it as a free souvenir when you’re done.
Olaf’s Snow Fest is an all-new snow play area in the Hollywood Land area of Disney California Adventure Park. You can sled, play with the snow and build a real snowman. This is also the only area and first time that Olaf has had his own meet-n-greet at the Disneyland Resort. You’ll need a Fastpass to meet him, and they’re so popular that they’ve been running out first thing in the morning.
The Muppet*Vision 3D Theater has been transformed to the Crown Jewel Theatre where you can now experience For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Here your family’s favorite Frozen characters appear live on stage as you sing along to the songs that made Frozen an instant hit. Fastpasses are also offered for this show, but you may not need one during slower travel times.
Disney Freeze the Night – A Family Dance Party is an all-new nighttime party taking place in the Hollywood Land area of Disney California Adventure Park. Live entertainment, games and special Frozen treats are available for purchase.
Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post is the place inside the park where you can shop all things Frozen.
Disneyland:
Anna and Elsa star in their own vaudeville style show at the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland as part of the Princess Fantasy Faire. The show plays daily and rotates with a fun version of Tangled. The theatre is relatively small, so you’ll want to get there early to get a seat.
Scenes and landmarks from Arendelle can now be spotted on the Storybook Land Canal Boats in Fantasyland among scenes from other classic Disney fairytales.
Anna, Elsa and Olaf kick-off Mickey’s Soundsational Parade on their own float as it makes its way down Main Street U.S.A. as part of a special pre-parade. Get your spot 10-15 minutes before the parade starts or you’ll miss it.
Downtown Disney District:
Anna & Elsa’s Boutique is the must-stop shop for any Frozen Fan. Kids ages 3-15 can even get an Anna, Elsa or Olaf transformation, just be sure to make a reservation because appointments fill up quickly.
Olaf’s Ice Rink is currently located in Downtown Disney right by Earl of Sandwich (yum!). You can rent skates and glide along the ice in a winter wonderland, but only until February 22, 2015.
I hope that your New Year’s Resolutions include a trip to Disneyland with your family and that this information makes it even more magical for your family.
