Hanging Towel Tutorial
I hope I am not the only Mom out there with a hanging towel problem! My older boys have outgrown their hooded towels but with regular towels, they just can’t get quite enough of the towel over the hook to actually have it stay for very long. It’s been driving me nuts! While visiting with a friend I saw that she had sewn a ribbon through the edge, which created an easy hook to hang them with. Genius! Since I think Ive got some mad sewing skills now I gave it a try.
First you need your towel and a ribbon, cut to about a foot long. The length depends on how big you want your hook to be.
Since my ribbon was thick I folded both of the edges over and sewed just the ends down.
Then I sewed those edges together. I did a lot of stitches, since the towel’s weight would be hanging on it and I didn’t want it to rip out.
Then I took the ribbon and did a little straight stitch on the edge of the towel to keep the ribbon from sliding around.
I folded the towel down over the ribbon. It was about an inch over. Then I did two – 1 inch long lines of zig zag stitches to make sure the ribbon was really reinforced. The first zig zag was in the middle of the folded over part. The second one stitched the edge down completely.
Then you hang it up!
They are so easy!. Davis was SO excited. He was the one really struggling to get his towel to stay. Finally a bathroom with hung towels instead of a pile under the hooks!
Davis asked if I could take a picture of him with his towel, because he loooooves it (his words – not mine).
And the serious thoughtful pose:
One more way to help my boys succeed and keep the house cleaner too! YEA!

It’s so true! My towels are always slipping to the floor. That’s a great and easy idea.
