Hi everyone, it’s Adelle from Packed with Fun, the official blog of Get Away Today! With the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening at Universal Studios Hollywood on April 7, there is no greater time to be a Potter fan. We cannot wait to experience for ourselves Hogwarts castle, Hogsmeade, and the many treats we love so much about the Harry Potter universe. So until that day, we have some amazing magical Harry Potter inspired recipes you can make at home! We have everything from Butterbeer to Chocolate Covered Frogs and they’re so easy to make it will be like magic.
Harry Potter Butterbeer
Ingredients:
¼ c Sweetened Condensed Milk
¼ c Butterscotch Chips
¼ c Cinnamon Chips
2 T Salted Butter
2 Chilled Bottles of Cream Soda
Take the condensed milk, butterscotch chips, cinnamon chips and butter all together and add them to a saucepan. Melt over a low heat until everything is melted and smooth. Next add one bottle of cream soda to your mixture.
Keep on heat and stir in the soda. Once fully mixed, remove from heat and add in your second bottle of cream soda. Stir for about 10 seconds.
Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream into a mug then pour in your Butterbeer! The combination makes it creamy and the perfect consistency. Now you can understand why Harry would sneak into Hogsmeade for this amazing drink.
Golden Snitch Donuts
Ingredients:
Package of Crumb Donut Holes
1 c Butterscotch Chips
1/2 c Cinnamon Chips
Pastry Bag and Small Round Tip
Wax Paper
Combine both types of chips in a bowl and melt them in the microwave. Pour your melted concoction into a pastry bag. On a sheet of wax paper, draw the wing shape of a golden snitch, then fill in.
Once the wings have hardened, cut a slit on each side of the donut hole. Then slide the wing into the donut. You now have your very own edible golden snitch! Do not let these fly away, they are too good to lose.
Harry Potter Exploding Bon Bons
Ingredients:
1 Package of Regular Oreos
1 Package Cream Cheese
1 Bag of Melting Chocolates
6 Packs of Pop Rocks Candy
Wax Paper
Gallon Ziplock Bag
This delicious treat is the perfect combo of ingredients everyone loves – it is like magic! Start by smashing the whole package of Oreos in a Ziplock bag until you have small chunks of cookie. Dump your crushed Oreos in a bowl and add the cream cheese.
Mix in the cream cheese until everything is completely mixed and combined into one cohesive batter. Take your mixture and make about 25 balls, about 1 Tablespoon in size. Lay them out on your wax-paper-covered baking sheet.
Now we get to add the explosion part of our recipe! Take your bonbons and gently roll them in a bowl of Pop Rocks candy. Once your snack is covered in desired amount of candy, place them in the freezer to chill for 10 minutes.
While those are chilling, melt a bowl of chocolate until smooth. Remove the balls from the freezer and individually dip them in the chocolate. Place back on the wax paper and lightly sprinkle with more Pop Rocks.
Enjoy your bonbons with the hidden magic inside!
Harry Potter Licorice Wands
Ingredients:
Pretzel Rods
Twizzlers Pull n’ Peel Licorice
Frosting
Sprinkles
Frosting Bag and Tip
Fill your frosting bag with your choice of frosting. Start in the middle of the pretzel and make your own frosting design. You can add licorice and sprinkles to to make it even more festive! Now you have a wand and a tasty treat – simple as that!
Harry Potter Chocolate Covered Frogs
Ingredients:
Gummy Frogs
Real Milk Chocolate Chips
White Frosting
Black Frosting
Wax Paper
Frosting Bag and Tip
It doesn’t get much easier than these chocolate covered frogs! Melt about a half cup of chocolate chips in a bowl until it is smooth. Then, dip your gummy frogs in the chocolate. Simple as that. You can completely cover them or dip them half way, whatever you like better. Let the chocolate coating dry on the frogs.
To complete this tasty treat, add the eyes with your black and white frosting. And they are ready to enjoy!
You could even make your own Harry Potter trading cards to go along with them!
Harry Potter Chocolate Covered Cockroaches
Ingredients:
Sesame Stick Crackers
Real Milk Chocolate Chips
White Frosting
Black Frosting
Wax Paper
Frosting Bag and Tip
You still get the creepy crawly effect, but with a great taste! Melt your chocolate and dip each individual sesame into the tasty concoction.
Now that all of your crackers are covered, it is time to make the legs! Put your remaining chocolate in either a frosting bag or ziplock bag with a corner cut off. Then just drip the chocolate across the little cockroach bodies.
Let the chocolate dry and harden, then all you have left is to make eyes with your white and black frosting!
