This will be his first Father’s Day as a father and fortunately, or unfortunately, he really hit my first Mother’s Day out of the park. I’ve got some seriously huge shoes to fill.

Hi! I am Annalece from over at The Mister and Lady and I am married to the most darling Mister, Javier. The Mister in my life is a born and bred Spaniard (consequently making him the owner of an accent that makes me weak in the knees). He is also a musician, my best friend, a reporter for NBC Telemundo, the resident comedian, an ideal Papi to our daughter, and the most deserving man this Father’s Day.
We will be starting our Father’s Day weekend with something your mister might be embarrassed about…
A PEDICURE.
Your man will fight against it at first, but he will love it. Trust me. Go buy his favorite drink, his favorite treat, and make an appointment for two. The Mister and I love to sip on Sonic drinks, eat See’s chocolate, and hold hands during the beautification process. When the nail technician says “pick a color”, soothe your man by reassuring him that he doesn’t have to have an ounce of polish on his toes. Au Naturale is A-OK. It took me years to get my Mister in a pedicure chair, but now that he knows the beauty of it, he’s always asking when our next pedicure is scheduled for. ($20-$40)
My Mister would like to have more time to be a book worm.
This list of “100 Best Books for Men” from Gear Patrol is pretty great. There is bound to be a handful of books that would get your mister to sit back, take a breather, and get lost in a good read.
My Mister, a recovering Discovery Channel addict, will be getting The Perfect Storm for Father’s Day (which has inspired several Discovery Channel series). ($13)
We tend to keep the TOMS company in business by purchasing a pair for nearly every holiday. The Mister chose these crazy things recently and they seem perfect for any man interested in studying the elements while walking through the park. ($54)
My Mister loves to play chess. He is very good at it…or maybe I am just super horrible. Either way, he wins every time. Someday, when we have a house of our own, he would like to display fancy chess sets. His current collection starts and ends with a beautiful set from Spain so I figure it is time to add to it! I have scoured the internet several times and have come to the conclusion that my favorite website is chesssets.com. I don’t have the slightest idea which set I will choose for the Mister this year but this light up set makes me laugh so it might be the winner. ($60)
Making your own customized tennis shoes is an ideal gift for any man! Give your Mister a NikeID gift card and let him loose on the website to design his perfect tennis shoe. The possibilities are endless and I could be entertained on that site for hours. I’m working on a pair that looks like the Spain flag for my Mister. He has a lot of hometown spirit 🙂 ($105-$320)
For my Mister, the musician, I will be getting him his very own guitar pick punch from Pickpunch.com. I chose the standard size because it’s the only one I’ve seen him use. We just finished paying off our credit cards so I think it is only fitting to turn those devilish things into guitar picks. Sounds like a perfect way to finish those things off to me! ($25)
Finally, my Mister is a bit picky in the clothing department. Enter: Zara. If your man has any European fashion needs at all (or just feels like American made suits make him look 30 pounds heavier) head on over to Zara. It is my first stop for work clothes for the European man that wears a suit and tie six days a week. (I must say that nothing is better than a man in a tailored suit and Zara nails it.)
Good luck with your holiday shopping! I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful man to celebrate this year.
Happy Papi’s Day, Mister!
~ Annalece
