Hi! I’m Mariel’s behind-the-scenes, right-hand “woman,” Rebecca. I enjoy helping her out with just about everything on ‘Or so she says …,’ from writing and editing to advertising and more! Before this awesome gig, I worked in Marketing and Public Relations for many years. When I’m not helping Mariel, I spend my days at home with three great kids and my wonderful husband.

Now on to the real reason for today’s post … I get to introduce you to a great company, Plant Therapy!

I recently had the unique chance to try out the 14 Essential Oil Set from Plant Therapy. I had some idea of the potential health benefits of using essential oils, but I had no idea of all the other awesome uses for essential oils including cleaning, pest control and even as an aphrodisiac!

One of the first things I did to get up to speed on essential oils was to go to the Plant Therapy blog. And I’m sure glad I did! The blog is packed full of interesting uses for the different oils, Q&A series and even ideas for making homemade play dough with essential oils – brilliant!

One of my favorite features on the Plant Therapy blog was the Medicine Cabinet Makeover post. Who knew that you could potentially get rid of expensive and chemical-filled medicines in favor of natural oils?!?

My little 18-month-old has been fighting a cold all week, so in place of a mentholated rub I tried applying a combination of Eucalyptus and Peppermint to his chest. I really felt like it helped his coughing stop and helped him sleep better, which meant we all slept better! I don’t know that it cured his cough, but it can’t hurt him and it’s so much better than slathering petroleum all over his sweet skin.

Then my next experiment was to give my very emotional and active four-year-old a little foot massage using the Relax Synergy blend. Both of our afternoons went much better as she was visibly more calm and relaxed after her essential oil massage. Plus, I like that it gave us a chance to connect a little while I was massaging her.

Another favorite use of my new oils is a few drops of Lemon or Peppermint in my water (this was a suggestion from my mom) – yum!

The uses of essential oils are endless, and I’m looking forward to continuing to educate myself on the best ways to use them to benefit my family, our home and our health!

All essential oils are not created equally, nor are the companies that sell them. I’ve been very impressed by the obvious passion Plant Therapy has as a company to educate consumers about essential oils and to make them available at a fair price. Plant Therapy is not a multi-level marketing company, which helps keep their prices down. And I really like that I can go directly to their site and easily buy what I want without having to go through a middle man. Plus they offer free shipping on all orders to the continental U.S.!
