Hi there everyone!!! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. Hope you all are as excited about this chilly fall weather as I am. The colors have faded here in North Idaho & the trees are bare. It won’t be long before the snow has fallen. Which means it’s time for soup. I love throwing a bunch of ingredients into the slow cooker & smelling that wonderfulness drifting through the house all day long. Then when it’s dark & it’s dinner time we can sit down for a warm bowl of something delicious. My current favorite is this slow cooker Chunky Clam Chowder.
These biscuits are soft, buttery, cheesy, and loaded with the delicious flavors of apple and bacon. They come together in a saucepan in just minutes, you bake them in muffin tins, and they make the perfect accompaniment to any dish. Namely turkey, or potatoes, or cranberries, or stuffing, or salad…! As for the theme, I’m thinking bacon! Can you really go wrong??

Some tricks for making your own apples – freeze your apples the night before dipping them in caramel. Then, be sure to refrigerate your apples for as long as possible before dipping in chocolate. Again, we recommend overnight if possible.

I love that it is pretty inexpensive (minus the bacon…jeeze it’s getting out of control!) and easy to throw together. We don’t even peel our potatoes, just wash well and dice. This cheesy bacon potato soup can be ready in about 30 minutes. Perfect!

I know that I have a whole lot of baking to do in the next couple months & I’m sure you do too. Which is probably why October 10th is Cake Decoration Day. So to help celebrate that, I thought I would share with you all a cake decorating tutorial today.
You see, my mom was an expert cake decorator & did it professionally for most of her adult life. I grew up watching her & picking up a few things here & there along the way. I so wish I had paid more attention to the finer details because now that I have all her tools I feel like I have so much to learn. There is a lot to know about cake decorating!! One thing I remember her doing ALL THE TIME was creating these Parchment Decorating Bags. When you are piping icing – these simple little disposable bags are the easiest way to draw or write on whatever you are decorating. Because they are small it makes them so much easier to handle. Let me show you just how to make your own.
I’m a cake girl. Donuts, candy, cookies… I could take or leave. But, cake?? I’m all over it. Banana Cake, Strawberry Cake, Chocolate Cake and Toffee Coffee Cake, baby. This is a simple cake, that’s great served warm with ice cream, or room temp, with a dollop of whipped cream. Have you ever looked up the definition for ‘dollop’? Get this: “a shapeless mass or blob of something.” That kinda sound gross. Definitely does not do justice for the heaven that is whipped cream.
So, this Toffee Coffee Cake recipe comes from Hershey’s. I knew I needed it in my life, the minute I saw it was filled with pieces of Heath Bar. Oh, and then there’s the fact that it’s cake.

I love swiping recipes from my mom. Seriously, if she makes it and serves it, it’s good. Well, unless it has mayo or onions in it… then, it can’t be good, cause I’m still 5 years old. School is in full swing now & I don’t know about you, but the first thing I hear out of my kids mouths when we enter the house after school is “what can I have for a snack?”
My must-have for after school snacks is that they be quick and easy. Something that we can throw together before we get working on homework or start carpooling the kids to their different activities. I try to get/make healthy snacks throughout the week, but always make a fun sweet treat for Friday’s after school snack to welcome in the weekend!:)
This recipe is one of our favorite after school snacks, and it pleases my teenagers down to my 7 year old. Win!
