Hi Everyone! It’s Adelle with Packed with Fun, the official blog for Get Away Today. It is so much fun to share a Disney related craft each month, but it seems like lately the universe is buzzing with just one thing… Star Wars! With the new movie coming out right before Christmas and Star Wars Season of the Force coming to Disneyland in just a few weeks, I knew I had to make something that celebrated the two.
One thing that has become a tradition on our family is announcing a vacation in a fun way. When Disneyland announced that Star Wars is coming to the park with Season of the Force, I started making plans for a Star Wars Disneyland vacation reveal. The event begins on November 16, 2015 and although an end date hasn’t officially been announced, it’s been teased that it will last until Spring 2016. Season of the Force is a limited time event which includes a Star Wars invasion of Tomorrowland. Space Mountain is temporarily becoming Hyperspace Mountain, there will be meet and greets with Star Wars characters, updates to Star Tours and the Jedi Training Academy, and more galactic good times.
With all these exciting attractions coming to the parks and Christmas just around the corner, I thought you might like to surprise your own little Jedis with a trip to Disneyland…Star Wars style. You won’t need the power of the Force to operate these Lightsabers. And, when your kids find out you are headed to Disneyland, you’ll be the coolest parent in the Empire.
To start, print the lightsaber template onto heavy paper and cut out your lightsabers. There are three color choices for you to choose from: Green, Blue, or Pink. There is also a generic version of each color that you can use if you want to add your own personalized text to the light stick.

Turn the lightsaber handle upside down and tape the Inside Tab strip onto it. Place the tab onto the top part of the handle. Leave the top and bottom open, without tape, so that the light stick can slide through it. Just tape the two sides down, then fold the sides in like a trifold.
Tape the top flap down with clear tape to hold it in place. Fold the bottom part of the light stick over along the line that says Fold Here.
Finally, fill in the space in the text that tells how many days it will be until your trip begins. Then, tuck the light stick into the handle. Make sure it slides under the Inside Tab. The tab will catch onto the folded end of the light stick when it’s extended, preventing the light stick from being pulled all the way out of the handle.
This is an example of what each color option looks like when finished:
The light saber is really easy to operate. Start with the light stick pushed into the handle, then pull the light stick up until the words appear. Watch your children’s faces and have your camera ready as they discover the big surprise!
